of New York's Drisha In-
stitute for Jewish Education.
The institute teaches women
of all Jewish denominations
biblical and rabbinic texts.
Fradle Pomerantz Freiden-
reich, a "superstar" among
Jewish educational profes-
sionals. Her programs includ-
ed the integration of Jewish
and secular studies in Jewish
day schools and a pioneering
immersion in Hebrew for
kindergartners and first-
graders. Associate director of
the Jewish Education Service
of North America for the past
two years, she recently mov-
ed to Israel.
Coalition for the Advance-
ment of Jewish Education,
honored for its 13th annual
conference, which was held in
Israel. The Jewish State was
used as a "living laboratory.
Participants studied for two
days in all parts of Israel, in-
cluding the West Bank. The
next three days were devoted
to 80 workshops each day. p
