MALA AND HENRY DORFMAN

MEMORIALIZE PARENTS AND RELATIVES THROUGH GIFT
OF AN MDA MOBILE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

iA A is .)()V!-Itl.

American Red Magen David for Israel (ARMDI) is pleased to announce the contribution of a fully equipped Mobile
Intensive Care Unit from Henry S. and Mala Dorfman of Franklin, Michigan.
This gift presented to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's National Emergency Medical, Ambulance, Blood and
Disaster Service, was made in cherished memory of Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Dorfman's parents and their relatives who
perished in the Holocaust. Presenting the coveted ARMDI's "Gift of Life Award" at a recent dedication ceremony, Dr.
John J. Mames, chairman of the ARMDI Michigan Region stated: "This special ambulance you have so graciously donated
soon will assist MDA in the vital humanitarian and lifesaving missions; it will bring new hope to thousands of Israelis
in times of need, to Israel's sick, injured, aged and newborn. Your magnanimous generosity once again demonstrates
your compassionate concern for the welfare, security and destiny of our gallant brethren in Israel. MDA is grateful to
you for participating in the noble task of Pikuach Nefesh — saving precious lives." Accepting the award Henry Dorfman
remarked: "For Mala and me, the survivors of the Nazi Holocaust, it was a long, difficult and painful journey from the
hell of the Holocaust to the paradise of democracy, freedom and opportunity. Yes, we are grateful for the miracle of sur-
viving, we are grateful for the good fortune and all the blessings granted to us and we shall never forget our Martyrs
and Heroes of the Holocaust. And remembering them we decided to donate this special ambulance in the loving memory
of our beloved parents and all our relatives who perished in the Holocaust. May their sacred memory and the memory
of our Six Million live forever. And as we dedicate this ambulance during the celebration of Israel's 41st Independence
Anniversary, it is our hope and prayer that a genuine peace and stability soon will prevail upon the State of Israel."
The Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) with a sophisticated equipment which includes defibrillator, telemetry,
two-way radio, advanced life-support unit, medical supplies, oxygen, etc. enables MDA paramedics to offer and render
pre-hospital emergency care without losing crucial moments.
Dorfmans, prominent community leaders, were lauded for their sustained, splendid support of MDA throughout
the years, for their lifelong altruistic involvement and outstanding philanthropic support of numerous charitable, social,
cultural and educational causes locally and in Israel.
The Dorfmans have three children. Joel is married to Carrol (Park), Gale is married to Arthur Weiss and Carolyn,
married to Dr. Gregory Gallick. The Dorfmans are also proud grandparents of Layne Weiss, Noah and Jordan Dorfman.
