HAROLD NORRIS, pro-
fessor at the Detroit College
of Law, was granted the
Humanity in the Arts Award
by Wayne State University
during a program celebrating
Law Day, the Bicentennial of
the Constitution, and the
40th anniversary of the
Universal Declaration of
Rights. Prof. Norris was cited
for "his lifelong commitment
to civil liberties and social
justice and his active celebra-
tion of these critical
democratic values in a body of
published and memorable
verse."
His poem, The Liberty Bell,
was especially honored for its
placement in Independence
National Monument Park in
Philadelphia on the occasion
of the American Bicentennial
and in the Michigan State
Capitol Building in Lansing.
SANDFORD R. KOPNICK,
formerly of Oak Park, has
been awarded life member-
ship in the North American
Federation of Temple Youth.
Kopnick, a fourth-year rab-
binic student at Hebrew
Union College in Cincinnati,
Ohio, is the rabbinic adviser
to the Ohio Valley Federation
of Temple Youth and the pro-
gram director of Goldman
Union Camp Institute.
