The Jewish News won two
awards in the 1989 Simon
Rockower competition for
American Jewish journalism.
David Holzel received an
honorable mention in the
feature writing category for
his story in the April 1, 1988,
entitled
Jewish News
"Midwest Babylon" on the
Orthodox community in
metropolitan Detroit.
Kim Muller-Thym won
third place for design in the
special section category for
"Israel at 40," a tribute to
Israel's 40th anniversary
which appeared April 22,
1988.
The Rockower Awards are
sponsored, by the American
Jewish Press Association.

Ridge campus of Oakland
Community College will have
an informal gathering in
