standing black glass closet doors
with a reveal set in ivory, that Krass
designed herself. "We wanted an
unusual treatment," she said. "We
wanted something dramatic."
A foyer bench designed and
fabricated by Frank Jager is covered
in B. Berger fabric in a black and
khaki textured stripe.
The foyer floor, in salt and pepper
ceramic tile, is by American Olean
and gives a clean and contemporary
appearance. Hanging above the
stairs in the foyer is a constructed
canvas piece titled Aerial Adventure
by Nancy Thayer. This piece is an
acrylic collage on canvas.
Additional art can be found in the
hallway off the foyer, where a black
vessel with bright pink, yellow, tur-
quoise and green markings by John
M. Donahue is on display.
To the right of the foyer is the library
where custom lacquer built-ins, also
designed by Krass, and fabricated by
A Notch Above, have open backs
and brass inlay.
Also in the library, laden with rows
and rows of books aligned on custom
designed wall units, is a comfortable
khaki chaise in raw silk-perfect for
propping up the feet to read a good
novel.
There is a custom library table with
brass base and flair chairs in khaki
tones with metallic flecks painted in.
The window cornices have been
covered in pleated silk for a
sophisticated ambiance.
The doors are oak with custom et-
ched glass designed to match the
foyer doors. The floor has been
carpeted with hevay white wool
Berber by Daltonian.
Krass said that she designed kit-
chen cabinets of high gloss, gray
laminate with rolled doors and
drawers. Counter tops and the
backsplash are in black pearl granite.
The floor has been covered in Italian
ceramic tile, gray with gray overlay
pinstripe. The kitchen chairs are from
Kinetics with Design Tex fabric in
black with gray pin dots. The table
has an elliptical top with free-form
base in black laminate with stainless
inlay. The walls are covered in gray
and white brush stroke wallpaper.

HOME

Even though it is still undergoing
treatment, the most breathtaking
room in the home is the Great Room
which overlooks the lake.
Here the owners have a black lac-
quer baby grand piano, two occa-
sional chairs in black lacquer with a
metallized woven fabric.
The custom designed sofa is
covered in a fabric of silk and brass
metallic blend.
A soothing fireplace on one wall of
the Great Room is surrounded in
black Andes granite with tiered and
lit drywalled soffits.
An interesting and eye-catching
form of art in the home is a painted
wood figure titled "Eve" by artist Jon
Brooks. It has a two sided mask
