Benefit Set
Phil Marcus Esser and Bar-
bara Bredius will appear at
the Wiley E. Groves High
School Auditoriumin Birm-
ingham on Sunday at 7 p.m.
in a benefit concert for
Alzheimer's Disease.
They will be joined by Ron
Coden, Sheri Nichols, Charlie
Latimer, Josh White Jr., and
many other local celebrities
to present the fourth annual
"Love Song — A Concert
From the Heart."
All the performers and
musicians have volunteered
their talents to benefit the
Alzheimer's Association-
Detroit Chapter.
Tickets can also be purchas-
ed at the door.
Author Levin
In Birmingham
Doron P. Levin will be at
the Birmingham Bookstore,
263 Pierce, Birmingham, on
Saturday at 4 p.m.
autographing copies of his
book Irreconcilable Dif-
ferences: Ross Perot Versus
General Motors.
Levin is the Detroit bureau
chief of the New York Times.
Articles he wrote about
General Motors and Ross
Perot for the Wall Street Jour-
nal were nominated for a
Pulitzer Prize. Irreconcilable
Differences is an outgrowth of
the author's earlier work for
the Wall Street Journal.
Adat Shalom
Plans Events
Adat Shalom families will
celebrate Israel Independence
Day at a Shabbat family
dinner May 12. The evening
will begin with a Kabbalat
Shabbat service at 6 p.m.,
followed by a catered dinner
at 6:30 p.m.
Cantor Larry Vieder will
lead songs after the dinner.
The Yom Ha'atzma'ut din-
ner is sponsored by the adult
study commission and
chaired by Naomi and Amnon
Reiter.
Adat Shalom will hold a
two-part study series to in-
troduce members to its new
prayerbook, Siddur Sim
Shalom, 7:30 p.m. May 16
and 23. Rabbis Efry Spectre
and Elliot Pachter will lead
the classes.
The synagogue will begin
using the prayerbook during
June 24 services, when Rab-
bi Jules Harlow, editor of the
siddur and director of publica-
tions for the Rabbinical
Assembly, will be the guest
speaker.
