rant's worth is its consisten-
cy . . . This Mario's has . . . in
the goodness that goes with a
tradition that has gotten
better.
EVERY BUSINESS
owner appreciates customer
loyalty . . . Oak Farms Fruit
Market partners Tim Collins,
Vito Cappizzi and Matt Mar-
tin are happy • that their
customers in Oak Park, on
Coolidge north of Nine Mile,
and Farmington, on Grand
River west of Orchard Lake
Road, weren't overly alarmed
at the recent Chilean produce
stories.
Typical were comments of
Shirley and Harry Shiovitz,
who were restocking their
pantry during the height of
the scare . . . "We had no in-
tention whatsoever of reac-
ting over two tiny grapes out
of tons and shiploads of pro-
duce. These reports can cause
some people, especially
seniors, to avoid the foods
they need in their diet to stay
healthy" . . . All Chilean food
shipped into the United
States now has a certification
stamp that reads, "Inspected
And Cleared by FDA."
THIS MONTH is already
the ninth anniversary of
Yahia (Ya-Ya) Mawari taking
over the Red Devil
Restaurant on Fenkell, east of
Greenfield . . . Probably has
the best prime rib anywhere
. . . 32 ounces, $13.95,
straight cut by ex-butcher
Yahia with a bone on every
one . . . His veal dishes are
also superb . . . white Provimi
veal at reasonable prices.
The years roll on, but Red
Devil continues as an eating
experience by generations
who come from everywhere
during lunch and dinner .. .
When a restaurant is con-
stantly with customers in-
stead of rush hours only, it
brings smiles to an onwer .. .
Red Devil always has
customers . . . and there's
never a seasonal lull either.
COLUMN ITEM short
while back about word having
it that Dimitri "Jimmy"
Syros may be returning from
Florida to the northwest area
is more than just a rumor .. .
Could be he may again take
over his former Dimitri's on
Southfield and 10 Mile Road.
NOTE TO J.S., whoever
you may be . . . Al Winkler at
Pickle Barrel Deli on
Evergreen and 12 Mile in
Evergreen Plaza would like to
buy you dinner . . . He can't
get over your honesty . . . call-
ing and asking how much cof-
fee and a particular sandwich
