HAYRIDE WELCOME

Congregation Shir Tikvah
recently held a hayride to
welcome new Russian Jews
to the area. It took a few
minutes for the 45
attendees to learn how to
pronounce each other's
names. Some of the
activities at the Sugarbush
Farm in Canton township
included milking cows and
roasting hot dogs and
marshmallows. Igor
Grinberg of Oak Park,
Ilya Leytes of Oak Park
and Maria Drigant of
Southfield were some of the
Russian Jews who enjoyed
the welcome. Some Shir
Tikvah members who
enjoyed the day also

NUTRITIONAL ADVICE
Jane Brody, of the New
York Times, was the guest

speaker at the Maimonides
Donor Day luncheon held
at Adat Shalom. Brody
extolled the virtues of fiber
and warned the audience of
that naughty F word — fat.
Her nutritional advice was
motivating to the 400 in
the audience. Dina
Brodsky, Stacey Brodsky,
Ann Rosenberg, Helene
Brody, Cathy Deutchman,
Leila Eidelman, Rosanne
Kukes and president
Marlene Moss listened
attentively. In the foyer
boutiques sold merchandise.
Barbara Freedman, Susie
Iovan and Tina Dentamo
of the Leather Connection
were taking charge of the
