Aleynu Talk
On Abortion

Aleynu, the Partnership for
Jewish Adult Education, will
present a lecture entitled
"Life's Beginnings and Abor-
tion" at noon March 14.
The series is hosted by the
Harper/Grace department of
medical transplants. It is the
third presentation in a series
of six examining common
medical issues from a Jewish
perspective. The presentation
will be given by Rabbi
Shmuel Irons.
This series is a part of
Aleynu's "Lunch and Learn"
program. It meets on alter-
nate Tuesdays at the
Harper/Grace Professional
Building. Refreshments will
be served, and there is a
charge. For information, call
the Aleynu office, 968-3000.

UHS Nursery
Adds Branch

United Hebrew Schools will
open a branch of its nursery
school in the fall at Congrega-
tion B'nai Israel of West
Bloomfield.
There will be classes for
children 2 1/2-5 years old. The
nursery school will have two,
three, four and five half-day
programs held mornings and
afternoons. A parent-toddler
program will also - be held.
The program includes field
trips to places of general and
Jewish interest. Math,
science and reading readiness
are part of the curriculum
taught through hands-on
experiences.
There also will be Super
Sundays, parent coffees,
parent workshops, Shabbat
dinner, Purim seudah along
with the weekly celebration
of the Shabbat and the
celebrations of all the Jewish
holidays.

Midrasha Has
Lecture Thesday

The Midrasha — College of
Jewish Studies, a division of
United Hebrew Schools, and
American Women for Bar-
Ilan University will offer the
final lecture of the series,
"Jewish Communities in-
Crisis" on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
A continental breakfast will
be served at 9:30 a.m.
The lecture entitled,
"Through the Eyes of the On-
ly Jewish Boy in Town," will
feature Rabbi Arnie

Rabbi Sleutelberg

Sleutelberg of Congregation
Shir Tikvah who as a young
child grew up in Hudson,
Mich., and has always been
the only Jewish boy on the
block. He currently splits his
time between congregations
in Troy and Traverse City.
The program, which is open
to the public, will be held in
the Friedman Conference
Room of the Sigmund and
Sophie Rohlik Building of the
UHS. There is a charge.

Nursery Has
Summer Camp

Beth Abraham Hillel Moses
Nursery School is offering
summer camp for 2 1/2-5 year-
olds, diapers accepted.
A new program for only 4-5
year-olds will be added this
year. There will be water play,
guest visitors, songs and arts
and crafts. Parent-Toddler
classes will be held on Tues-
day and Thursday mornings.

Hebrew Course
Is Offered

Aleynu, the Partnership for
Jewish Adult Education, is of-
fering free crash courses in
beginners Hebrew reading.
The aim will be to teach
people to participate in the
Passover seder in the original
Hebrew.
In Southfield, classes will
meet Tuesday mornings at
Congregation Shomrey
Emunah; Wednesdays at
Young Israel and Thursdays
at the Franklin Club Apart-
ments. Classes will meet
Thursdays in Oak Park at
Young Israel and in West
Bloomfield at Congregation
Shomrey Emunah.
