Registration has now begun
for B'nei Akiva summer pro-
grams. Camp Stone, located
in Sugar Grove, Pa., is the on-
ly summer camp in North
America that is run jointly by
B'nei Akiva and the Young
Israel movement.
Camp Stone provides youth
with an Israel-style, Hebrew-
speaking camp experience.
Camp Stone is open to youth
who are entering grades
three through 10. It offers dif-
ferent programs geared to
each age level, emphasizing
athletic activities, outdoor
skills and creative arts.
Machal, for students enter-
ing the 10th grade, is a
special program offering the
challenge of a pioneering
chalutz lifestyle with the
development of leadership
and peer group relation skills.
Each camping group incor-
porates into its daily ac-
tivities creative programs and
outdoor skills such as sports,
swimming, arts and crafts,
boating and canoeing,
horseback riding, extended
overnights and trips.
This
year,
several
counselors from the Detroit
Chapter of B'nei Akiva will
be on staff at Camp Stone
along with the local shlichim,
Annette and Benny Appel.
Dates for the camping ses-
sions are June 28-July 25 for
the first session, and July
26-Aug. 22 for the second ses-
sion. There is a discounted
tuition for all B'nei Akiva
members. For applications
and information, contact the
B'nei Akiva office, 967-3742.
Students who have corn-
leted the 10th grade are eligi-
ble to participate in the B'nei
Akiva Mach Hach B'Aretz-
Summer in Israel program.
This special program allows
participants to tour the coun-
try, to learn about Jewish
history and Judaism, and ex-
perience life on a moshav, kib-
butz, development town and
in the city. Each Mach Hach
participant is "adopted" by a
kibbutz family, and given an
insider's view of kibbutz life.
A daily learning program is
scheduled with leading rabbis
and teachers, and par-
ticipants will take part in an
in-depth seminar on
Jerusalem through the ages.
The touring aspect of the
program includes all the ma-
jor Israel attractions as well
as several lesser known
places. Mach Hach par-
ticipants visit museums, at-
tend cultural and sporting
events. The dates for the
B'nei Akiva Mach Hach
Ba'Aretz Program are July

12-Aug. 20. Space for this pro-
gram is limited. For informa-
tion, contact the B'nei Akiva
Office.
- Each summer, B'nei Akiva
conducts a leadership train-
ing seminar for high school
seniors from all parts of
North America at the Torah
Va'Avodah Institute in Beach
Lake, Pa. The goal of the sum-
mer is to provide the teenage
participants with a
background in B'nei Akiva
ideology, Zionism, religious
studies, Israel and practical
leadership skills. Class topics
range from Talmud and
Jewish philosophy to
organizng activities and
creative dramatics. Outdoor
activities, sports, and pioneer-
ing skills that are incor-
porated into the national
seminar program as well.
Dates for the national
seminar are June 28-July 22.
Applications are available at
the B'nei Akiva office.
