JVS Offers
Work Program

The Jewish Vocational Ser-
vice Displaced Homemaker
Program, funded by the
Michigan Department of
Labor, Office of Women and
Work offers a program of voca-
tional assesment, vocational
counseling, job seeking skills
and job placement assistance.
Displaced homemakers are
women who, through divorce,
separation, widowhood or
disability of spouse, have lost
their source of economic sup-
port. After spending a
substantial number of years
in the home caring for fami-
ly members, displaced
homemakers find returning
to the job market a difficult
transition.

Women who need to become
financially self-sufficient and
need help entering the job
market after many years of
working only in the home are
invited to apply. Eligibility is
based on marital and employ-
ment status. There are no in-
come guidelines. Interested
applicants should call Sherri
Lumberg of Patti Kurche at
Jewish Vocational Service,
559-5000, during business
hours.
