Symphony To Haunt
The Stage On Oct. 28

Bewitched Classics II —
Night of the Living Classics
has been ghoulishly announc-
ed by the Friends of the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Haunting Orchestra Hall on
Oct. 28, the spellbinding
sonic seance is slated for 8
p.m.
The capitivating wizardry
of the musicians of the
Detroit Symphony will be
highlighted in performances
of Night on Bald Mountain,
Danse Macabre, and Berlioz'
entrancing Witch's Sabbath.
The soundtrack suite from
Franz Waxman's Bride of
Frankenstein
will be
presented, marking the first
time any musicians have
dared to perform the entire
work in public.
The apparition of Boris
Karloff and Alfred Hitchcok
have scheduled appearances
as narrators, and the Ghost of
Gabrilovitch will spirit the
podium for a performance of
Thhaikowsky's Swan Lake.
Numerous individuals will
appear (and disappear!)
courtesy of Don Jones' Illu-

sionists, and dancing
skeletons and other things
that go bump in the night
await the unsuspecting guest.
The musicians will be
under the menacingly magic
wand of Charles Greenwell.
Guest prestidigitator will be
pianist Steven Rosenfeld, in
an eerie evocation of Lizst's
terrifying Totentanz. In his
alter ego, Rosenfeld chairs the
piano department at the In-
stitute of Music and Dance.
A costume contest will oc-
cur on stage at intermission,
so guests are advised to adorn
themselves in their most
outrageous garb. Celebrity
judges for this competition in-
clude radio personality Jim
Davis, State Sen. Jack Faxon,
DSO Wizard Steve Miller, and
music critic Nancy Malitz.

A Gala Halloween party
will take place on stage im-
mediately after the concert.
Those brave souls attending
bewitched Classics II may
purchase tickets by telephon-
ing the Orchestra Hall Box
Office at 833 3700 or the
