Do field Oaks

entertainer's looks of finery
. . . then retreating back into
the tinseled-curtain "dressing
room" on stage . . . returning
with still another wig as
another entertainer . . . This
goes on continuously, while in
between, Larry Musgrave's
two partners on drums and
synchrnized piano give out
with a lot of music and
entertainment.
The tradition of good enter-
tainment and fun goes on at
Duffy's On The Lake, Cooley
Lake Road near Union Lake
Road . . . where Larry
Musgrave & Friends are ap-
pearing . . . with new
characters each week . . . It's
much different than the usual
Bob Posch and Ron Coden
shows, but high with crowd
acceptance as the three gents
get standing ovations.
Larry's first characteriza-
tion after singing songs is a
difficult doozy . . . as he does
all four voices of the Tempta-
tions in one sequence . . .
Then comes George Burns,
etc.- . . . all with different
costuming and hairpieces .. .
The fine drummer-vocalist
announces, "And now, ladies
and gentlemen, from
Kalamazoo, Michigan, Elvis
Presley" . . . Out comes Larry,
doing a fine job on this im-
pression, getting the au-
dience involved and presen-
ting an admirable make-
believe among Duffy's On
The Lake customers.
Owner Candy Gotts'
waitstaff is trained for expe-
dient service . . . Smiling,
very personable Susan Nash,
whom folks may remember
from a couple of local delis, is
an on-the-ball waitperson .. .
always making certain the
customers know she's around
with high efficiency.
It was two days before
sister-in-law Jeanette Eps-
tein's birthday, so 'a little
celebration . . . Candy's is
also on the same date.
Larry and his partners put
out much entertainment .. .
He's quite a showman and all
three are loaded with talent
. . . They're at Duffy's On The
Lake Fridays and Saturdays
through October.
As you see people dancing
among the tables while the
piano and drums play much
music, the gulp is there in
wonderment as to what the
previous owners of former
Cooley Lake Inn during the
'40s and '50s would have said
. . . Candy Gotts has made
Duffy's On The Lake an "in"
spot for good food, good ser-
vice and good entertainment.
IT'S TONIGHT . . . 40th
anniversary by Mario's on Se-
cond Blvd. . . . being
celebrated by Variety Club of
Detroit . . . 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. . . .
