how my stuff can exploit his
weaknesses."
Although Rosenberg is still
working on his skills, Miller
feels that the lefty already
has a major league attitude.
"That's one of the big
plusses" Rosenberg has, says
Miller. "He's not afraid when
he goes out there. He tries to
get himself up for the game,
he does that real well. Maybe
too much. If I had any one
negative, it might be that he
gets a little too excited out
there, which comes with ex-
perience. Once he gets the ex-
perience he'll settle down out
there a little bit and stay
within himself a little bit.
He's got a good future." ❑

Although Rosenberg was a
starting pitcher as a college
senior, he has never started,
and does not want to start, a
pro game.
"I've always felt that my
strong point was relieving,
having a stong arm and being
blessed as far as comeback
ability. I can throw pretty
much every day, pretty strong,
and I feel good in that type of
a role."
He continues, "I like reliev-
ing. I like the challenge of
coming in when a game's on
the line, picking somebody up
out of a tough situation .. .
You have to be aggressive, you
have to come in throwing
strikes right away and go
right after the hitters, where
as a starter you can kind of
get a feel for the game."
Miller says that Rosenberg
has the talent to start as well,
but will likely stay in his
relief role for the Sox, at least
through next season. Mean-
while, Rosenberg continues to
improve his repertoire.
"Dyar Miller and (manager)
Jim Fregosi both have work-
ed with me a lot on just get-
ting a little more movement
on the fastball and mentally
approaching how to set up
hitters."
Rosenberg's big-league ex-
perience should also help
him, particularly since he has
relatively little professional
experience, compared with
most major league hurlers.
"The most important thing
is getting to know the hit-
ters," he says. "What a guy
can handle, what he can't,

Special to the Jewish News
f there's one Jewish ath-
lete on the American
Olympic team who knows
the difference between mak-
ing the team and just miss-
ing, it's Andy Seras, who will
compete in Greco-Roman
wrestling in the 149.5-pound
class.
"In 1984," he recalls, "I
finished as runner-up for the
Olympics. What did I get for
that? A handshake. I wasn't
even invited to talk to a tem-
ple men's club in my home
town.
"And I went to the same
high school (Niskayuna) as
Jeff Blatnick, who did win a
Gold medal, so I could see the
opportunities that were open-
ed to him. I'm hoping that I'll
win a Gold and get the oppor-
tunities to make my life a
whole lot easier.
"People love the American
dream."
The 5-foot-5 Seras has been
wrestling since he was nine.
He works as a waiter, paying
his own way to some of his
meets around the country
and overseas.
"I've been to Russia twice,
to Hungary, Norway, Sweden,
France," he continues. "I
never had a doubt after '84
that I'd keep going and keep
trying. There's no overwhelm-
ing favorite in my weight
class: A Russian won the last
World Championship meet,
but he may not be in Seoul.
I'm rated in the top six and I
have a chance."
Travelling to tournaments,
he says, "makes it hard to be
able to keep kosher, and I
miss that. Sometimes the
food's not available. And
while I was competing in
Hungary during Passover,
