Berris Twins
Her Bat Mitzvah

Michelle Judith Berris will
celebrate her bat mitzvah at
Young Israel of Southfield on
Saturday. She will share this
simcha with Elena Kilberg of
the Soviet Union.
As a bat mitzvah, Michelle
will deliver a Dvar Torah on
Parshat Shoftim following
Shabbat services.
The Kilberg family first ap-
plied to emigrate in 1978 and
were refused for secrecy and
for having no invitation by a
person living outside the the
USSR, despite the fact that
Elena's grandmother is living
in the United States and her
uncle is living in Israel.
Michelle, and her sisters,
Amy and Jodi, have written
letters and sent sheet music
to Elena, but have not receiv-
ed a response.
Michelle attends Hillel Day
School where she will be
entering the seventh grade.
