.111 ■ 11•1111,

people remember the Tucker
car . . . Only 51 were made
because Preston Tucker and
his "Car Of Tbmorrow" never
had a chance to make more.
This is the Paramount film,
"Tucker: A Man and His
Dream," that stars Jeff
Bridges as Preston Tucker,
who manufactured his revolu-
tionary dream cars before be-
ing stopped by Senator
Homer Ferguson and the
powers that be then in the
auto industry . . . Director
Frances Coppola and Ex-
ecutive Producer George
Lucas each own two of the 45
still in existence.
Jeff Bridges does an astoun-
dingly accurate performance
as Preston Tucker, although
at times he would seem to be
over-acting as the automotive
innovator promoter . . . who
introduced items that we to-
day take for granted . . . padd-
ed dash, seat belts, safety
glass, rear-mounted engine,
disc brakes, fuel injection and
pop-out windshield.
It even had a center
headlight that swiveled as
the car turned at curves and
corners . . . very ingenious.
The fast-paced interesting
movie "Tucker: A Man and
His Dream," is more than a
history lesson . . . it is a very
interesting experience. -

BRASSERIE DUGLASS
on Southfield north of 12 Mile
has a variety lineup for its
entertainment schedule dur-
ing the week . . . Pianist
Aurora plays familiar tunes
Tuesdays . . . Wednesday and
Saturday eves has Les
Troubadours singing and
playing both operatic and
classical music . . . Thursday
and Sunday evenings is
pianist Carolyn Woodman
tickling the ivories . . . Also
on Thursdays are the
"Sizzlers," popular and
talented senior citizen chorus C\
line dancing the Can Can and
other lively routines . . .
Pianist Zen Varnas is there
Friday nights.

ROBERT WILSON, new
general manager at Michigan
Inn, J.L. Hudson Drive, was
previously g.m. of the
156-room Sheraton Tampa in
Florida . . . That's an upgrade
of 256 rooms to the 412 he
now bosses.
Stefanie Bauer is director of
marketing for the hotel and
conference facility managed
by the Wesley Group of Atlan-
ta, Ga. . . . A $3 million
renovation plan is scheduled
for December of this year.
HENNY YOUNGMAN
and Bobby Vinton are 8 p.m.
tonight at Meadow Brook's
Baldwin Pavilion near
Rochester.
