A year in Israel is the op-
portunity of a lifetime. With-
out exception, the students I
met were very happy they
came. But all the educators
with whom I spoke warned
that a year in Israel may not
be for everybody.
"Students who have ad-
justment problems at home
are not encouraged to come
here,", warns Singer, of
Hebrew University. "It takes
a certain maturity to deal
with all the changes of lan-
guage and society without
the familiar supports."
Still, there is something
magical about Israel, and
about being young. There is
no place like Israel for Jewish,
personal growth. And given
the range of excellent pro-
grams available here, stu-
dents and their parents
should seriously consider the
opportunity to study here. El
Joel Rebibo is a writer who
lives in Israel.

Amsterdam (JTA) — The
authenticity of two letters
and a postcard allegedly writ-
ten by Anne Frank and her
sister Margot to pen pals in
Danville, Iowa, in April 1940,
will be examined by the
Netherlands State Institute
for Documentation on the Se-
cond World War and by the
Netherlands Research In-
stitute in the Hague.
The letters are scheduled to
be auctioned by the Swann
Galleries in New York next
October 25.
The fact that the Frank let-
ters were written in English
has raised questions. It was
pointed out that until the
war, English was not taught
in Dutch elementary schools.
