Iris Kaufman
Iris Kaufman, chairman of
the Detroit Educational
Television Foundation board
of trustees which oversees
WTVS/Channel 56, has been
named the top public broad-
casting volunteer by the
Michigan Corp. for Public
Broadcasting.
She was honored for her
20-year commitment to
WTVS, which has culminated
in her current poistion as
board chairman.
Kaufman became DETF
chairman in 1986, ascending
through the volunteer ranks.
Her commitment to Channel
56 began as major gifts chair-
man for the auction; she in-
itiated the idea of auction
underwriting, which now
adds over $100,000 to the
total. A DETF trustee since
1972, Kaufman has been a
vice chairman wince 1978.
She has held important
positions on a number of
WTVS Board committees, in-
cluding nominating, market-
ing and endowment, and
served on two president and
general manager search
committees.

Nursery School will host a
picnic and pool party on July
24 at 3 p.m. at Camp Ruth on
the Jewish Community Cam-
pus in West Bloomfield.
The afternoon is open to all
UHS Nursery School,
kindergarten, first and se-
cond grade families, as well as
families with pre-school age
children interested in the
UHS Nursery School
program.
The fee includes use of the
pool and locker room and a
kosher picnic meal. Reserva-
tions are due by Monday. For
