B'NAI MITZVAH
Z.O.A. WIRE TO DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM COMMITTEE
Hon. James J. Blanchard, Chairman
Democratic Party Platform Committee
Grand Hotel
Mackinac Island, Michigan
Triple Bar
Dear Governor Blanchard:
Continued from preceding page
On behalf of the Zionist Organization of America, Metropolitan Detroit District, we
earnestly urge the Platform Committee to reaffirm the traditional Democratic Party's friend-
ship and support for Israel that have existed for many years.
The State of Israel has, we believe, proven its unqualified commitment to democratic
values and its reliability and steadfastness as our country's only true friend in the Middle
East.
As such, Israel merits continued and undiminished U.S. economic, military and political
support.
We call upon the Democratic party to recognize Jerusalem as the undisputed capital
of the State of Israel and to insure its integrity and indivisibility.
It behooves the Democratic party to reaffirm our government's commitment not to
deal or negotiate with the PLO.
We believe our government should reactivate the Camp David process as offering a
more realistic approach to genuine peace negotiations. The Shultz peace-plan is seriously
flawed - in its reliance on an international conference as a substitute for direct negotia-
tions, in its precipitous time-table and its "linkage" to the Arab riots.
With regard to Soviet Jewry, we call upon the Democratic Party to continue to press
for unrestricted Jewish immigration from the Soviet Union.
Respectfully submitted by the Public Affairs Committee of the Zionist Organization
of America, Metro Detroit District.
Dr. Leon H. Warshay
Chairman

Mark, Cary and Danny study for their b'nai mitzvah.
ride free-style bikes and
skateboards. They share
chores equally, and each
mows lawns and removes
snow to earn money.
While all three boys are on
the wrestling team at Or-
chard Lake Middle School,
each has cultivated his own
hobbies and interests. "Dan-
ny won the math competition
at his school in Ferndale,"
Carol says. "He has great con-
centration and spends hour
after hour playing Nintendo
video games. He is the
loudest and _ the - most
argumentive, and he can also
be the most charming.
"Cary is very athletic and
he excels at playing the
trumpet.. He has the most
energy and ambition. He has
an artist's sensitivity and his
feelings get hurt easily. He is
the one most interested in
girls.
"Mark is the most affec-
tionate and the most easygo-
ing. He is very popular and
gets along with everyone. He
is easy to please, although he
does like to do things his way.
He waits to the last minute to
do things. He loves to sleep,
and watch TV in the rocking
chair!"
With a straight face, Carol
insists that the boys do not
fight much. "They may walk
out the door hating each
other, but two minutes later
they forget about it. They are
extremely protective of each
other!"
While Carol admits the
boys can get wild and have
broken their share of win-
dows, she says it is extremely
difficult to discipline them.
"No one admits to doing
anything wrong, and one
would never incriminate the
other. They stick together,
and often gang -kip on Bob and
me.
"If they are going to fight
with someone, it is most like-
ly to be with their sister?'
Rachel, who sings in the
choir and will sing at her
brothers' party, has helped
take care of them since the
day they came home from the
hospital. "I love them dearly,"
she says, "But they can be a
pain in the rear. Being a
sister to triplets is just like
having , three brothers or
sisters. They are always
funny.
"It is fun having triplets for
brothers; it's a conversation
piece. All my friends like to
meet them?' This, the boys
say, is the best part of being
triplets. "A lot of people know
us," says Cary.
Carol tells parents of
"multiples" that "everything
is going to work out. Do
whatever you have to do to
make them normal children?'
Along those lines, she
believes it is wrong to dress
them alike "because they are
individuals!'
How would the boys feel
about having triplets of their
own? wouldn't want to take
care of three the same age
because you can only be in
one place at one time," says
Mark. Danny thinks he
would like one boy and one
girl. "It would be hard," ex-
claims Cary. "Everyone says,
`I feel sorry for your mother? "
But Bob insists he wouldn't
change a thing. "It's fun hav-
ing triplets?' he says. "It's like
living with the Three
Stooges?' But when reminded
that three years from now the
boys will start driving on the
same day, his hand moves to
his head in exasperation. "Oh
God. Give me a break:' ❑
