Michael's
Continued from preceding page
designed by very talented
Ron Rey . . . and much of
Michael's is custom-made .. .
light fixtures, booths, window
treatments, etc.
Executive Chef Patrick
Gearin is formerly from
LaChat and Money Tree .. .
His sous chef, Ron Winegar,
was at Chez Raphael.
Michael's has been open on-
ly a week . . . after construc-
tion which started about
seven months ago.
The employees, like evening
waitress Vicki Raduc, are
pleasant and efficient . . . a
great asset in the restaurant
game.
SPOTLIGHTS SHINE on
dancing girls at Brasserie
Duglass in Farrell Shopping
Plaza . . . every Thursday
evening, 8:30 p.m., when the
"Sizzlers" appear at the
popular dining spot.
Brasserie Duglass, whose
Moulin Rouge atmosphere
has floor-to-ceiling walls with
typical French street scenes
(a little bold, a little bawdy),
brought the Sizzlers for an
added touch of Paris . . . They
do the Can Can, as well as
other lively dances, with
several costume changes.
The Sizzlers are all senior
citizens . . . and have perform-
ed throughout the tri-county
area . . . coaxing gentlemen
from the audience to join
them for part of the dancing.
UCELLO'S, Dearborn's
newest restaurant, is next to
Crabbie Joe's on Michigan
Ave. . . . owned by Joe and
Rick Bird.
CLAUDIO NARDINI,
former general manager of
the Michigan Inn, is now the
g.m. at Royce Hotel at
LaGuardia Airport, New
York.
NAME MAY have changed
from Sunrise Cafe to Sun-
shine Cafe at New Orleans
Mall, 10 Mile and Greenfield
. . . but one of the town's best
waitresses is still there .. .
Shelly Rogow . . . ultra-
efficiency personified . . . re-
mains at Sunshine Cafe for
breakfast and lunch . . . It is
now open for dinner.
FLAVORS OF Original
New York Seltzer under
supervision of Rabbi Yehudah
Bukspan and bearing his
kashruth certification, are
cola, peach, berry, lemon lime,
black cherry, raspberry,
blueberry, orange, root been
and vanilla cream. Its new
diet line is available in
raspberry, black cherry,
vanilla cream and peach .. .
with no calories, very low
sodium, no caffeine and no ar-
tificial coloring . . . In the
short time that Diet New
York Seltzer has been on the
market those who have tasted
it say they can hardly believe
it is a diet soda . . . that they
never thought a diet soft
drink could taste so good.
IT'S ALMOST
unbelievable . . . that any
restaurant would receive an
incredible 100 percent from
the Oakland County Health
Dept. . . . I couldn't believe it,
so customer Ernie Sher sent
me a copy of the report on
Ram's Horn, Orchard Lake
Road between 12 and 13 .. .
I see it but still can't believe
it.
"GIRL CRAZY" by
George and Ira Gershwin at
the Birmingham Theater, has
been extended through July
10 . . . Didn't think this great
musical could only be a five-
weeker as originally schedul-
ed . . . not with all that fan-
tastic music.
SUPER SUMMER Out-
door Concert Series at
Prudential Town Center on
Civic Center Drive in
Southfield had The Tropical
Connection Steel Drum Band
yesterday . . . June 30 is Bill
O'Donnell's Bagpipers; July
14 the Balduck Mountain
Ramblers; July 28, the Chris
Pitts Quartet; Aug. 11, the
Lyric Chamber Ensemble;
Aug. 25, Percy Gabriel's New
Orleans Jazz Band; and Sept.
8, the Larry Nozero Quintet.
The Thursday concerts,
from noon to 1:30 p.m., are
aimed for folks to take a
break from work and enjoy
the sun while listening to live
bands perform during lunch
period . . . In case of rain, the
concerts will be held indoors
in the Garden Atrium.
AFTER A 12-week sold-out
engagement at Fisher
Theatre last year, the na-
tional touring company of
"Cats" will return for a five-
week engagement June
28-July 30 . . . This touring
company is just one of the five
that have presented "Cats" in
the U.S. since the hit
musical's first tour opened in
December 1983.
"Cats" debuted on Broad-
way in October 1982 after
having its European opening
in London, May of 1981.
USUALLY A fine dining
experience . . . having dinner
at Excalibur, Franklin Road
at Northwestern and 12 Mile.
Now . . . even more so, with
new general manager Victor
Dazbaz, whose experience
brings a lot of class to Pat Ar-
,cher's popular spot.
Our waiter, Dimitri "lbcki"
Halatsis, is among the best
. . . so very efficient and a big
customer favorite . . . Evening
hostess Nanette La Fond is
the genial gal with a calm
smile and gracious way as
folks clamor for tables.
Marty Wilk, Excalibur's ex-
cellent executive chef, makes
palates tingle with his very
fine kitchen know-how.
