Dr. David W. Weiss, chair-
man of the Lautenberg
Center for General and
Tumor Immunology, will be
the featured speaker on
Wednesday at the American
Friends of the Hebrew
University installation ban-
quet to be held at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek at 7 p.m.
A noted scientist, Dr. Weiss
is also an authority on Jewish
thought and law. He has
published more than 225
papers and books dealing
with scientific subjects and
nearly 50 issues of Jewish in-
terest. Dr. Weiss holds the
Crown professorship at the
Hebrew University of
Jerusalem.
He studied at Yeshiva
University and Brooklyn Col-
lege, from which he was
graduated cum laude in
biology and chemistry. He ob-
tained a Ph.D. degree in
microbiology and biochemis-
try* from Rutgers and a doctor
of philosophy and medicine
from Oxford University.
He has served as professor
of bacteriology, immunology,
and zoology at the Universi-
ty of California at Berkeley.
In 1966, he made aliyah.
Dr. Harris W. Mainster will
be installed as president of
the Michigan Chapter and
Harvey Grace, the outgoing
president, will receive special
recognition at the dinner. Co-
chairmen for the event are
Harold Berry and Erwin
