Temple Art Fair Nears

Temple Israel Sisterhood
will present Art Fair '88
Saturday through Monday at
the temple. Sara Hoffman is
president of Temple Israel
Sisterhood, and Donna
Phillips is vice-president,
ways and means.
Elaine Melder and Marilyn
Weisberg are serving as
overall chairmen for the art
fair.
Included in this year's art
fair will be many selections of
fine art, arranged by Ricki
Berlin and Barbara
Altwerger, chairmen.
New this year, "Little Shop-
pes of Art," is under the direc-
tion of Liz LaKritz and Lin
Klein.
Other committee members
are: Gail Epstein and Rebec-
ca Jerris, champagne preview

chairmen; and Marsha
Shavrien, chairman of
volunteer workers.
Francine Piell and Harriet
Trager, ticket chairman, said
there is a nominal charge for
tickets.
"It Was, It Is," Trifles and
Treasures, headed by Esther
Jacobs and Phyllis Zager, will
again be part of Art Fair.
A special service provided is
the Temple Avenue Cafe,
headed by Sylvia Weingart
and Linda Brodsky.
A highlight will be a talk by
Molly Abraham, restaurant
critic for the Detroit Free
Press. She will speak at 1 p.m.
Monday. The patron cham-
pagne preview is at 8 p.m.
Saturday. The fair continues
Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m.
til 5 p.m.

Federation Women Hear
Hadassah Editor Tigay

Plans are under way for the
Jewish Welfare Federation
Women's Division 42nd an-
nual meeting to be held
11:30 a.m. May 11 at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
In addition to the presi-
dent's annual address and the
election and installation of of-
ficers, the program includes a
presentation by Alan M.
Tigay, executive editor of
Hadassah Magazine, about
his travels to exotic places.

Tigay, a native Detroiter,
has been from Japan to
Israel, from Africa to India.
In addition to his position
at Hadassah Magazine, Tigay
is editor of The Jewish
Traveler, an international
guide book, and has con-
tributed articles to The Peo-

ple's Almanac, The Book of
Lists, The New York Times
and the National Lampoon.

He has served as a judge for
both the National Magazine

Awards and the Jewish Book
Awards.
Helen Shevin is chairman
of the annual meeting corn-
