brothers, two sisters and two
grandchildren.

Ruth Schachter

Ruth Chanin Schachter, a
former United Hebrew
Schools and Detroit Public
Schools teacher, died April 13
in Rehovot, Israel.
Born in Lithuania, Mrs.
Schachter came to Detroit in
1927. She taught at the UHS
while completing her educa-
tion at Wayne State Univer-
sity. She held many offices in
Women of Jewish National
Fund until she made aliyah.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Dr. Matathias; a
daughter, Sheila Samantha
Ashley of London, England;
two grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
A memorial service will be
held at 9:30 a.m. May 8 in the
home of Faye and Edward
Mentzer, 35101 Glengary
Cir., Farmington Hills,
553-7969 or 356-1620.

Dr. Emanuel
Green

Dr. Emanuel J. Green, a
Detroit-area dentist for many
years, died April 17 at age 77.
Born in Chicago, Ill., Dr.
Green was a 32nd degree
Mason, past master and life
member of Perfection Lodge
of the Masons, a Shriner, a
member of the Goodfellows, a
member of the American
Dental Association and Tem-
ple Beth El.
He leaves a son, Steven A.;
a daughter, Mrs. Albert
(Frances) Kaplan; a sister,
Dorothy Rood; and seven
grandchildren.

Henry Gordon

Henry Gordon, a retired
retail auto parts executive,
died April 15 at age 72.
A native Detroiter, Mr. Gor-
don was a member of Temple
Emanu-El, Ivan S. Bloch
odge of B'nai B'rith and a
Former member of the Louis
Varshall Lodge of B'nai
(B'rith. He also was a member
of the Eli Levin Post of the
lfewish War Veterans.
He leaves his wife, Marion;
two daughters, Mrs. John

Clifford Adler

Clifford Paul Adler, vice
president of Eden Foods, Inc.,
in Clinton, Mich., died April
13 at age 33.
Born in North Arlington,
N.J., Mr. Adler resided in
Manchester, Mich., at the
time of his death. He was the
president the Schmidt Noodle
Co. in Detroit and co-owned
the American Soy Products
Co. in Saline, Mich. Mr. Adler
was a member of AOPA-Pilots
Association and the Historic
National Trust.
He leaves his wife, Fran; a
daughter, Lauren; a son,
Grayson; his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Arnold (Carole) Adler of
Schenectady, N.Y.; two
brothers, Steven of
Newmarket, N.H., and Ken-
neth of Gainesville, Fla.

Dutch Jewish
Essayist Dies

Amsterdam (JTA) — Jac-
ques de Kadt, a political
essayist of Jewish origin who
wa a member of the Dutch
Parliament for more than 20
years, is dead at age 90.
De Kadt was a member of
the Dutch Labor Party in
post-war Holland, and sat in
Parliament until 1969, when
he quit to join a more conser-
vative faction. De Kadt was
the author of books on
fascism, the Soviet Union and
Indonesia.

Max Weisman

Max Weisman, a painting
contractor, died April 14 at
age 83.
Born in Poland, Mr.
Weisman was president of the
Wayne Association of Pain-
ting and Decorating Contrac-
tors of America for 25 years.
He was a trustee of the
Painters Union Pension and
Vacation Fund for 38. years.
Mr. Weisman was a member
of the Local 42 of the Painters
Union and was for two years
its president.
Mr. Weisman was a member
of Mosaic Lodge of the
Masons, Louis D. Brandeis
Lodge of B'nai B'rith and
Temple Kol Ami.
He leaves his wife, Molly;
two daughters, Mrs. Marshall
(Doris) Shanbrom and Mrs.
Frank (Annette) Langwald-
Kozin; and six grandchildren.
