Jack Berman
Wins Honor

The Jewish War Veterans
announce that Jack Berman,
a past Michigan Department
commander, has been ap-
pointed National Service Of-
ficer for Michigan.
Berman is a life member of
the Jewish War Veterans and
has served the Department of
Michigan for 40 years, having
held nearly every elected
position from the post to the
department level. He has
received numerous awards,
including "Man of the Year"
from the Department of
Michigan, "Veteran of the
Year" for the State of
Michigan, an award from the
Red Cross upon contribution
of his 100th pint of blood, and
an award from the
"Holocaust Memorial Coun-
cil" as a liberator of the
Buchenwald concentration
camp.
Berman is also a life
member of the Disabled
American Veterans, the
American Legion, as well as
an active member of the
Amvets and the Military
Order of the Purple Heart.
Presently, he is serving as co-
chief of staff for the Jewish
War Veterans of Michigan,
president of the Southfield
Veterans Organization, presi-
dent of the Joint Memorial
Day Association and is a past
president of the Allied
Veterans Council of Wayne
County.

Veterans Eligible
For P.O.W. Medal

Congress has passed into
law a special medal honoring
individuals who were
prisoners of war. Authoriza-
tion for this special P.O.W.
medal is for those veterans
who were taken captive prior
to 1970. Among the Jewish
community, there are several
veterans who qualify for this
medal.
All veterans eligible for this
medal are urged to contact
Jack Berman, Jewish War
Veterans national service of-
ficer, 226-4327.

The Sol Yetz-Morris Cohen
Ladies Auxiliary will service
the Northland Nursing Home
on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
Games will be played,
refreshments served, and lap
robes and gifts distributed.
