Rabbi Morton Yolkut
Rabbi Morton F. Yolkut will
be the guest of honor at the
27th annual Cong. B'nai
David Israel Bond tribute din-
ner .May 31. The event will
mark the completion of Rab-
bi Yolkut's' 10th year as
spiritual leader of the
Southfield congregation and
celebrate Israel's 40th year of
statehood.
During the dinner, Rabbi
Yolkut will receive Israel's
40th Anniversary Award "in
recognition of his service and
dedication to his congrega-
tion, the Jewish community
and the State of Israel."
Throughout the past 10
years, Rabbi Yolkut organized
the B'nai David Institute for
Adult Education, the semi-
annual youth Shabbaton, the
annual congregational lec-
ture series and serves as ad-
viser to the congregational
chapter of National Council of
Synagogue Youth.
He also is on the board of
trustees of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund and the
Midrasha College of Jewish
Studies, and is a member of
the board of directors of Akiva
Day School.
On the national level, Rab-
bi Yolkut is a member of the
Rabbinic Council of America
and the National Rabbinic
Cabinet of State of Israel
Bonds. He is listed in Who's
Who in American Religion
and Who's Who in American
Jewry.

Yom Hashoah
Candles
The Men's Club of Cong.
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses
has mailed each of the con-
gregation's members a Yom
Hashoah candle in remem-
brance of the 6 million Jews
who perished during the
Holocaust. The candles are to
Cong. B'nai David will hold
its monthly family shabbat
luncheon following April 16
sabbath morning services.
Rabbi Morton F. Yolkut will
discuss the lbrah portion and
Cantor Stuart Friedman will
lead the traditional Sabbath
zemirot.
A catered luncheon will be
served at no charge, but non-
members must make reserva-
tions by Tuesday.

Topic Of Speech
Dr. Firooz Banooni will be
the speaker at a continental
breakfast 10:30 a.m. April 17
at Cong. Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses. The guest of the
synagogue's cultural commis-
sion, sisterhood and men's
club, Dr. Banooni will give a
slide presentation and lead a
discussion on "Reflections of
Jewish Life in Iran."

Rabbi Wine
To Speak
Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine of
the Birmingham Temple will
present the first of three talks
on the theme "The Struggle
for Equality" at 8:30 p.m. to-
day. He will speak on "Israel,
Palestinians and American
Jews."
Beth Achim
Holds Brunch
Cong. Beth Achim will hold
a proSpective members'
brunch at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Members of the congrega-
tion's clergy and represen-
tatives of Beth Achim's af-
filiates will be available to
discuss the synagogue's ac-
tivities and programs. After
the brunch, there will be a
tour of the congregation and
its facilities.
