Couture Francaise. He was
encouraged by the French
designer Jacques Fath, who
liked his sketches.
Two years later he began
working at Christian Dior. At Dior
he was in charge of accessories
and leisure clothes for the Dior
licenses and boutiques in
Europe and the United States.
Five years later he left to
design a lingerie collection for
Warners in New York under his
own name. At the same time he
began working on a fur
collection for Revillon in Paris.
For the next ten years he
became Revillon's exclusive fur
designer in Paris and New York
working with Madame Revillon.

recalls Sanchez. His creative
approach was extraordinary in
the fur world. He is credited with
developing the "hide-out mink"
fur in, hide out — used today
in a variety of furs and styles.
His fur line even transcended to
lingerie, when he designed a fur
robe with lace and tulle trim.
"In 1973 my friend asked me
what happened to my lingerie
designs and reminded me of
how wonderful they were," says
Sanchez. As a lark, Sanchez
designed some lingerie, and the
designs were widely received.
"This triggered a business
nearly beyond my will and
coincided with a desire to leave
and live another life."
Sanchez packed his suitcase
and arrived in New York.
He then decided to start a
