Concert Honors
Rabbi Kahn

Yeshivath Beth Yehudah
will present the Jerusalem
Great Synagogue Choir at its
mid-winter dinner concert to
honor Rabbi Norman Kahn,
executive vice president, 6:30
p.m. March 14 at the
Michigan Inn.
Formerly known as the
Hechal Shlomo choir and
founded in 1958, the choir's
visit to Detroit marks its first
tour abroad and celebrates
the 40th anniversary of the
State of Israel. The choir per-
forms under the artistic direc-
torship of Elli - Jaffe, a
graduate of the Royal
Academy of Music in London.
The dinner concert will also
feature Cantor Naftali
Herstik. Herstik is a former
protege of Moshe Kussevit-
sky, Benvenuto Finelli and
Mark Raphael. As an added
highlight, Herstik's ten-year-
old son, Nethaniel, also will
perform.
There is a fee, and reserva-
tions are required. For reser-

Sue Ellen Eisenberg, presi-

Fund Council of Greater
Detroit, said Adamany,
Lawrence and Vaitkevicius
will receive the highest na-
tional award presented by
Jewish National Fund, the
"Tree of Life" Award, which is
given in recognition of profes-
sional and . humanitarian
leadership.
Proceeds from the dinner
will be used to establish a
forest in the American In-
dependence Park, located out-
side Jerusalem.
