NAME: Marjorie Fuller
AGE: 47
OCCUPATION: Program coordinator of

BACKGROUND: Marjorie Fuller grew up
in Detroit and graduated from Mumford
High School in 1958. Her parents, Sol
and Ruth Stein were very active at
Temple Israel. Her father, Sol I. Stein
was a past president. As a youngster,
she was always interested in health
care. "But women weren't encouraged
then in those professions," says Fuller.
When Fuller's children were older, she
decided to go back to college and study
guidance and counseling. For her
master's degree she also studied
families with chronically-ill members.
Unfortunately, she used her expertise at
home. Her father had a stroke and then
her mother had Alzheimer's Disease
within the same time period. Fuller
moved her parents into her own home
and took care of them. "My children
really helped. My daughter took off one
year of college," says Fuller. Her parents
died three months apart. "I lived all my
studies," she says. Fuller's career began
with counseling patients and working
as a supervisor of the hospice program
at Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse
Pointe. In 1986 she began working for
the Alzheimer's Disease and Related
Disorders Association in Southfield.
There she has initiated outreach
programs, educating the public about
Alzheimer's Disease. Some programs
include: A youth support group of
grandchildren of Alzheimer's victims,
which has received national acclaim;
creating training and educational
packets for formal care givers, such as
nursing home staffs; developing and
advising speakers about Alzheimer's
Disease. Currently, Fuller is working on
a video about the youth support group.
When she's not reading or writing, she
loves to dance. Fuller refers to herself as
a hyperkinetic middle-aged woman. "I
have a tremendous amount of energy."

ADELA CHAYET, make-up
artist and model, was
featured in an industrial
film produced by General
Motors that was shown in
New York. Chayet's part

was entering a futuristic
Buick in front of Orchard
Lake Country Club. "The
car was so gorgeous that I
might consider driving a
Buick," said Chayet. A
future New York star is
KEREN BARFI, 13, who

auditioned for the School of
American Ballet in
Manhattan and will attend
the summer program.
