WHO IS A JEW?

The Business and
Professional Women of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
recently featured a panel
discussion on "Who is a
Jew?" The program began
with slides of the
Michiganders participating
in the Soviet Jewry March
to Washington. The
discussion then began with
RABBI ELIMELECH
GOLDBERG of Young
Israel of Southfield, RABBI
ALLAN MEYEROWITZ of
Cong. B'nai Moshe and
RABBI LANE STEINGER
of Temple Emanu-El.
Although there are
differences among the
Orthodox, Conservative and
Reform, all three rabbis
agreed that the groups
should try to come closer.

JEWELRY DESIGNERS

MARI D'ALTO and LINDA
SOBERMAN, designers of
gold leaf and fiber jewelry,
are now selling their
jewelry in New York and
Chicago. Locally, their
jewelry is at Roz & Sherm
and Twigs. ARETHA
FRANKLIN bought some
pieces from their collection.
Another successful duo is
RONNA and ROBIN
PERLMAN, Two Sisters
Designs in Jewelry. The
Perlmans just came back
from a New York trunk
showing at Saks Fifth
Avenue in Manhattan.
