The Garbers wish to be
reunited with Garber's
brothers, sisters and parents
living in Israel.
Sylvia will be 13 this year
but because it is forbidden by
Soviet law for anyone under
16 to take part in a religious
ceremony, she will be denied
her right to be a bat mitzvah.
Kimberly has written to
Sylvia and will attempt to
reach the family by phone.

Craig Colton
Twins His Rite

Craig Colton shared his bar
mitzvah with a Soviet Jewish
boy at Temple Israel last
Friday.
The son of Richard and
Judy Colton of Bloomfield
Hills, Craig shared his special
day with his "twin," Yuli
Gornshtein of Leningrad,
whose family has been denied
exit visas from the Soviet
Union since 1978.
Yuli is the son of Boris and
Alisa Gornshtein. Both are
electrical engineers and wish
to join Gornshtein's brother
and mother in Israel.
Craig has written to Yuli
but has not heard from him as
of yet but will continue to
write to him. Yuli is not able
to celebrate his bar mitzvah
so Craig read from the Torah
for both of them.
