Daniel Stollman
Is Bar Mitzvah

Daniel Stollman, son of
Bernard and Barbara
Stollman, celebrated his bar
mitzvah at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek Saturday with his
twin, Kiril Altman, from
Tashkent. Daniel has been
writing to Kiril, son of Leonid
and Lilia Altman, for six
months with no indication
that the family has received
the mail. The Stollman fami-
ly had planned to telephone
the Altmans prior to the bar
mitzvah with assistance from
the Soviet Jewry Committee
of the Jewish Community
Concil.
An aeronautical engineer,
Altman has been unable to
find work in his field since he
applied for an exit visa for his
family in 1977. Altman's
brother is living in Haifa and
his parents are in Kiryat Ata
in Israel. The Altmans were
refused on the basis that
Altman had had a classified
job in an aircraft factory ten
years before application. The
Altmans have a daughter,
Diana who is now 18 years
old.

Local Teen
Is Bat Mitzvah

Julie Beth Coopersmith,
daughter of Miriam and Jay
Coopersmith of Bloomfield
Hills, will celebrate her bat
mitzvah today at Temple Beth
El.
Julie will twin the obser-
vance of her bat mitzvah with
Zhanetta Aminovd, a Soviet
teenager whose family has
been refused permission to
leave the Soviet Union. Julie
has written to Zhanetta for
the past six months, and has
not received a reply, but cor-
respondence has been receiv-
ed from Zhanetta's grand-
father in Israel.

Kim Buckner
TWins Ceremony

Kimberly
Buckner,
daughter of Deborah and
Milton Buckner will twin the
observance of her bat mitzvah
celebration at 9 a.m. Satur-
day at Adat Shalom Syna-
gogue with Sylvia Garber,
daughter of Sara and Mendel
Garber of Beltsy, USSR.
Garber and his family ap-
plied for emigration in 1976.
They received a refusal the
following year based on his
alleged "secret work” at a
military plant until 1972. It
has been more than 15 years
since he worked at the
military plant.
