I BEST

CELEBRATING OUR -I
11TH NEW YEAR

Continued from preceding page

Donna's party planning is
for up to 225 persons . . . and
her ways and means for suc-
cessful events are a
memorable record . . . In
other words, Donna is darned
good!
There's a sign on the
building back a ways at Jac-
ques, but the landmark ones
on Telegraph Rd. are gone .. .
This has led many driving by
to think that both Jacques
and Jovan are no longer in ex-
istence . . . There is some
truth to this insofar as talk-
ing about the old Jacques .. .
The new Jacques is still there
. . . alive and very much kick-
ing up good food and service
in a splendid atmosphere.
THERE'S DANCING now
. . . all week . . . at TK's Din-
ing & Spirits on Southfield
Rd. and rIbn Mile, former
locale of Dimitri's of
Southfield . . . Duo now Tues-
day through Saturday . . .
New trio starts February.
Although the Dimitri's of
Southfield sign is still up
there (until the city gives Tom
Kelly his okay to change,
which shouldn't be too long)
the name is definitely TK's
. . . and a lot of good food, fun,
music and dancing.
CROSS COUNTRY skiing
at a restaurant? . . . Sure
thing, Jan. 30, with Key
Largo on Walled Lake Drive
tossing the fundraising event
for Detroit Hold Handicap
Organization which sponsors
winter time activities for
blind and handicapped
persons.
Registration is 10 a.m. at
Key Largo Restaurant . . .
with the cross country fun
held in three different
distances . . . ten km begins
at 11 a.m., followed by a four
km and a one km.
No registration fee but
donations are welcome . . .
Prizes awarded and enter-
tainment in Key Largo .. .
For more info, call the
restaurant, 669-1441.
LEONARD LOWENS-
TEIN (also known as Lenny
Dangerfield) tells of new
talent in the area . . . She's
Kathy Morrow six nights a
week at Kingsley Inn . . . "A
top of the line pianist and
singer" says Leonard.
OPENING SOON, maybe
in a week, will be Afternoon
Delight Restaurant . . . on
Northwestern and 14 Mile
Road at former location of Jan
Drake.
Another operation of the
same name has been in the
Ann Arbor region about nine
years.
The name may seem a bit
misleading since it will also
be open for dinner.
NAME DROPPING . . .
Almost everyone does it, and

Kyoto Japanese Steakhouses
are no exception . . . They
have changed the name of
their sushi bars from
Benisushi to KyotoSushi.
Bill Zanke, vice president of
Asian Restaurants Interna-
tional, says the name change
provides a unified feeling that
serves to join Kyoto Japanese
Steakhouses and the sushi
restaurants within.
On Feb. 3, Kyoto Japanese
Steakhouse in Dearborn will
celebrate the grand opening
of KyotoSushi . . . A Shinto
priest will bless the new
restaurant, and Japanese
dancers will aid in the even-
ing's festivities.
TThe new year also brings
another Kyoto Japanese
Steakhouse to the Detroit
area . . . In addition to the
restaurants in Troy,
downtown in the Renaissance
Center, and Dearborn, a
fourth restaurant is schedul-
ed for Novi in 1988.
DINO VALLE'S "Opera
Potpouri" is every Monday, 5
p.m. to 6 p.m. on WCAR Radio
(1090 AM) . . . It's an hour of
trivia, operatic music, artists
of past and present, rare
recordings, opera premiers,
composers from early, roman-
tic and modern schools, tradi-
tional and optional inter-
pretations, etc.
Dino even tells things like
who was the first million
record seller, what were the
origins of turkey a la tetraz-
zini, veal tosca, butterfly
shrimp and peach and melba
toast.
The program is replayed
Sunday nights from 10 to 11.
CELEBRITY SERIES at
Fisher Theatre will have
Julie Andrews, Feb. 4-8 .. .
Johnny Mathis, March 3-8
. . . Engelbert Humperdinck,
with full orchestra March
18-20 performing his Las
Vegas show . . . and comedian
Whoopi Goldberg doing her
one-woman Broadway show
March 23-27.

Choral Group

Music Study Club of

Hills, on Monday at 2 p.m.

community are encouraged to
join. Rehearsals will continue
on Mondays at 10 a.m. at
