In Oak Park
Registration is under way
in Oak Park for youth, winter,
indoor soccer program. All
youngsters in grades one-
three, both residents and non-
residents, can sign up at the
Oak Park Community Cen-
ter, Monday through Thurs-
day 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m., and Fri-
day 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Practices begin in mid-
January with games begin-
ning in late January/early
February.
There is a registration fee.
The player contract deadline
is Dec. 30. For information,
call the department of recrea-
tion, 545-6400.
A community forum to
discuss issues that divide and
unite the branches of
Judaism will be presented at
7:45 p.m. Wednesday in the
auditorium of the United
Hebrew Schools, 21550 W. 12
Mile Rd., Southfield.
The moderator will be
Lauren Liss. Zvi Gitelman
will represent the Orthodox
position, Barbara Cook the
Conservative, Walter Shapero
the Reform and Miriam Jer-
ris the secular.
The event is sponsored by
the American Jewish Com-
mittee. The public is invited
at no charge.
