Concert Nears
Music Study Club of
Metropolitan Detroit will
sponsor the annual artist con-
cert Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. at Or-
chestra Hall, announces Ruth
Widrich, president.
Presented will be Cory
Cerovsek, violinist, and
Daniela L. Sikora, concert
soprano.
At 6, Cerovsek received his
first silver medal from the
Royal Conservatory of Music,
in Toronto. At 9, he took top
honors in the Canadian
Music Competition in piano
and violin in a field of 3,000
musicians. He was graduated
from Indiana University in
May 1987 at age 15, with ad-
vanced degrees in music and
mathematics.
Ms. Sikora has been soloist
and principal with numerous
professional groups, and has
been the recipient of many
awards and honors, including
a Metropolitan Opera
Regional Award and the Na-
tional Federation of Music
Clubs Hall of Fame Award.
The concert committee in-
cludes Mrs. Widrich; Corliss
Rosenberg, concert chairman;
Joan Rose, patron chairman;
Joan Linden, treasurer;
Mildred Charnas, publicity;
Helen Rowin, consultant. All
tickets are tax deductible.

The Zionist Organization of
America, Metro Detroit
District's, 54th annual
Balfour Celebration and con-
cert, featuring the Giora Feid-
man trio and Israeli singing
star, Vardina, will be held
Nov. 1 at Detroit's Ford
Auditorium, it was announc-
ed by Sherman Shapiro and
Mrs. Ira G. Kaufman, co-
chairmen, and Dr. Jerome
Kaufman, associate chair-
man, of the Balfour Celebra-
tion committee.
The concert will mark the
70th anniversary of the
Balfour Declaration and will
inaugurate the year-long
festivities, celebrating Israel's
40th birthday. ,
Irving Laker is honorary
chairman and Mrs. I. Walter
Silver is chairing the
Women's Committee.
Humorist and raconteur,
Max Sosin, will be master of
ceremonies and music will be
provided by Mack Pitt and his
orchestra. Tickets are
