1987
Allied Jewish Campaign
Our Jewish community upheld its reputation for
generosity in 1987. Hundreds of volunteers, in
partnership with thousands of contributors, pro-
duced a record Allied Jewish Campaign total of
$24.3 million.
That achievement involved countless meetings,
phone calls and personal visits. But the prize
was well worth the effort because:
Here at home, 2,700 youngsters, many of them
on scholarships, enjoyed a summer camp
experience. More than 4,000 families were
helped in their time of need by the Jewish Family
Service. Around the world, thousands of elderly
Jews received warm meals and clothing. In Israel,
hundreds of newcomers—once homeless—found
a home at last.
