Plans Events
Comedy, folk songs, and
Jewish music from around
the world will be part of this
year's celebration series spon-
sored by the B'nai B'rith
Hillel Foundation at the
University of Michigan-Ann
Arbor. Now in its sixth
season, the celebration series
brings national and interna-
tional talents to the entire
Jewish community.
One of the highlights of this
year's celebration will be the
appearance of comedian Den-
nis Wolfberg on Nov. 15, 8
p.m. at the Main Street Com-
edy Showcase in Ann Arbor.
Wolfberg has appeared on
The Tonight Show with
Johnny Carson, Late Night
with David Letterman, and at
some of the top comedy clubs
on both coasts. He has also
performed many times at the
Main Street Comedy
Showcase. .
David Broza, a top Israeli
singer, songwriter, and
guitarist, will perform on
Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. in the
Mendelssohn Theatre in Ann
Arbor. Winner of the King
David Award for best male
vocalist and performance,
Broza sings in English,
Hebrew, and Spanish.
On Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. in the
Michigan League Ballroom in
Ann Arbor, Willy Schwartz
and Miriam Sturm will enter-
tain. Singing in seven
languages, playing on 12 in-
struments, Schwartz and
Sturm present a musical
odyssey ranging from the
soulful doina of Romania to
the mystics of Safed to the
delights of Yiddish theater.
The duo has appeared on Na-
tional Public Radio, Prairie
Home Companion, and per-
formed hundreds of concerts
throughout the U.S. and
Canada.
Tickets for the series and
additional information are
available at the Hillel Foun-
dation at 339 E. Liberty, Ann
Arbor, or by calling 663-3336.
Individual performance tick-
ets may be purchased at the
Michigan Union ticket office
in Ann Arbor or at Hudson's.
