Selichot Event
For YI Teens

Young Israel Teens chapter
of the National Conference of
Synagogue Youth, will be
having its annual pre-
Selichot program at the home
of Sarah Berkower, 17030
Cedarcroft, Southfield. The
program will begin at 9 p.m.
Saturday, chaired by Joey
Selesny and Ari Schochet.
Sarah Berkower will discuss
her trip to Israel with the
NCSY Israel Summer
Seminar. A film will be shown
followed by discussion and ice
cream. At 12:30 a.m., the
group will go to Young Israel
of Southfield to hear a talk on
the meaning of Selichot by
Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg
and attend Selichot services.
At 9 a.m. Sunday, the group
will meet at Young Israel of
Oak-Woods to help the con-
gregation change over the sid-
durim to machzorim.

B'nei Akiva
Plans Oneg

B'nei Akiva invites all
members of Chevreyah Bet
(high school) to an oneg Shab-
bat 8:30 p.m. today at the
home of Sherri Greenstein,
17089 Jeannette, Southfield.
Dr. David Weingarten will
speak. Walking groups will be
arranged.
Chevreyah Bet will attend
the final Tigers' baseball
game vs. Toronto on Oct. 4.
All those with reservations
are asked to meet at noon at
Akiva Hebrew Day School for
transportation to the
stadium.
B'nei Akiva holds a weekly
Shabbat youth minyan at
Young Israel of Greenfield for
pre-bar mitzvah aged youth.
Josh Last will be giving the
Shabbat Halacha and Mendi
Van Leeuwan is this month's
Toran.

will hold a series of counter-
part seminars on Sunday for
the purpose of training in-
dividual chapter officers.
The vice president seminar
will be held at the home of
Karyn Moss (334-1383) at 4
p.m.
The membership vice presi-
dent seminar will be held at
the home of Ellyn Craine

The 1987 BBYO Kickoff
Dance will take place at 8:30
p.m. Sept. 26 at Southfield-
Lathrup High School. The
dance is open to the entire
Jewish youth community in
grades nine through 12.
Music will be provided by
Dance With Me Productions.
Admission is free to members.
There is a fee for
non-members.
The Great Lakes BBG
Council will sponsor two ten-
week aerobics sessions, begin-
ning 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct.
11, at the Jewish Communi-
ty Center in West Bloomfield.
Applications will be sent to
all nationally-registered
BBGs, and registration is due
at the BBYO office Oct. 7.
Michigan BBYO will hold
its Fall Conclave Oct. 23-25 at
Camp Maas. The theme will
be "BBYO University?' Ap-
plications will be sent to all
nationally-registered
members of Michigan BBYO.
Registration will be through
chapter presidents and is due
at the BBYO office Oct. 7.
