Polish Invasion
Commemorated

The Polish-American/Jew-
ish-American/Ukrainian-
American Dialogue of
Metropolitan Detroit presents
"Remember and Reflect," the
sixth annual observance of
the 1939 Nazi invasion of
Poland, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 1 in
the Ukrainian Cultural
Center, 26601 Ryan, Warren.
Zenon Wasylkevych, presi-
dent of the Ukrainian
American Coordinating
Council, Michigan chapter,
will welcome and preside.
The invocation, "A Jewish
Perspective," will be given by
Dr. John- J. Mames, past presi-
dent of Shaarit Haplaytah.
The candlelighting ceremony
will be led by Rosemary
Kozielski Wolock, a member
of the National Polish-
American/Jewish-American
Task Force.
The main speaker will be
Prof. Roman Szporluk, direc-
tor of the Center for Russian
and East European Studies at
-University of Michigan, who
will present the Ukrainian
perspective. Franciszek
Proch, former executive direc-
tor of Polish American Im-
migration and Relief Commit-
tee in New York, will speak
from the Polish .perspective.
The benediction will be given
by the Very Rev. Bernard
Panczuk, superior, Basilian
Father of Immaculate Con-
ception, Ukrainian Catholic
Church.
The observance is spon-
sored by the American Jewish
Committee, Detroit chapter;
Polish-American Congress,
Michigan Division;
Ukrainian-American Coor-
dinating Council, Michigan
chapter; and Shaarit
Haplaytah, Jewish Com-
munity Center of
Metropolitan Detroit, in
cooperation with Jewish
Community Council of
Metropolitan Detroit and St.
Mary's College of Orchard
Lake.
The public is invited.
