But 1987 may very well be
the year. Saget himself was
surprised at being chosen for
the Morning Program.
"When Bob Shanks, the pro-
ducer, met Sherri, he knew I
was a person. She's strong
and focused; she's really a
rock."
Which is more than could
be said for Saget at one time.
"My parents saw me go
through a lot of rejection, suf-
fering," he recalls.
But his parents always
knew he would come through.
"My mother always knew I'd
be a success; my father says
he always knew — I think he
did. They'd give me love
whenever I'd need it; they
were always there 300 per-
cent!"
His father-in-law was there,
too, says Saget, although in a
different way. "He didn't like
me, but he had no choice,"
laughs Saget. "My in-laws
thought it was a shame that
Bob didn't wise up and
become a doctor!'
But they stopped needling
him when he became a suc-
cess. After he made good,
Saget's sister-in-law asked
her father if he would admit
he had egg on his face. "I have
a dozen eggs on my face and
a sausage under my chin,"
was his response.
But then his father-in-law
always had a good way with
a line. "The first time I call-
ed him Dad — it was on the
phone — he said. 'Please, not
while I'm eating:AN' laughs
Saget.
Now they're good friends
and share breakfast via TV.

So Saget the comic has
plenty to smile about.
"Things are really going
well," says Saget, whose
career has included stints on
television's It's a Living and
Bosom Buddies.
