ONE CARAT
DIAMONDS

Large Selection Priced From

"Because when you go to a
meet, it's like something in-
side you takes over, and it
says, 'OK, perform.' . . . It's
like, you do it so many times,
repetition in the gym, that
when you go out it just hap-
pens."
Dana hopes to compete in
collegiate gymnastics, and
speculates that she may even-
tually look for a career in
television. But for now, gym-
nastics is number one, and
the ultimate goal is the
Olympic Games. "That would
be an experience. It's a
dream."
The Olympic gymnastics
team carries six competitors,
plus two alternates. Dana
would have to improve from
18th in the country to at least
eighth in one year - a very
tall order - to earn a trip to
the Seoul, South Korea,
Olympic Games next year.
But her ranking is good
enough to keep her in conten-
tion. It also earned her a spot
in this summer's National
Sports Festival, as well as
another overseas meet, in
Argentina this November.
Dana's family could not
travel to her meets in Israel
or Bulgaria. While Dana,
Judy and Whitlock all agree
that to make the six-member
Olympic gymnastics team
will be difficult, Judy says
that if Dana makes it, her
family will "find a way" to at-
tend the games. Watching
Dana makes her feel, "like a
proud mommy. Nervous, ex-
cited,. proud. Knowing that
she's a winner whether she
ever accomplished another
gold medal or not." ❑
