DANNY RASKIN
IRV ROSENBAUM always
wanted to be a lawyer, but had
to settle for his and wife
Charlotte's two sons, Barry
(Linda) and Steve (Aileen)
becoming barristers . . . while
he took over his dad's steel
fabricating business.
But Iry was persistent .. .
and at age 62, he can hold up
a lawyer's sheepskin with his
two sons . . . Barry practices
here while Steve plies his legal
trade in San Francisco.
A second celebration is the
39th anniversary next week of
Iry and Charlotte . . . The four
men who held up the chupa
when they were married . . . Dr.
Marvin Brodie, New Jersey; Iry
Korens, Mickey Meltzer and
Leonard Levett, all attended
Iry Rosenbaum's Wayne State
University Law School gradua-
tion . . . and party given for him
at Porter Street Station by his
wife Charlotte . . . Among 65
who attended were also his
daughter Susan and hubby
Tom Collicot from Seattle.
' Iry retired from the steel
fabricating business . . . and did
what few people do . . . come out
of retirement to go to school
again.
.
SHERI NUDELL
daughter of Linda and Howard
Nudell . . . and granddaughter
of Dorothy and Hy Nudell and
Bess and the late Maurice
Kahldon . . . was honored with
a scholastic certificate for her
art portfolio on graduation from
Southfield-Latin-up High .. .
Sheri will attend Michigan
State University's landscape
architecture program this fall.
THE WHITNEY on Wood-
ward is locale of Temple
Emanu-El Sisterhood's lunch
brunch, June 30, 11 a.m. .. .
Tour of the mansion will be
followed by a gourmet luncheon
. . . For more info, call Elaine
Stein, 626-1863.
CONGRATS . . . to Mary and
Albert Spinner of Oak Park .. .
on their 50th anniversary. -
AFTER NINE YEARS in
Florida, May and Dave Fenton
have returned to live here
again . . . Son Stuart graduated
Wayne State U. law school
following University of Florida
. . . Dave was drummer in the
late Hal Gordon's band.
FROM NEWSLETTER by
Valley Detroiters City of Hope
Chapter in California . . . "A
young boy, ready for bed, inter-
rupted a family gathering in
the living room . . . 'I'm going
up to say my prayers now.
Anybody want anything?' "
Big Detroit Night is being
sponsored by the group . . . For
more info, call Anne Feldman,
818-881-8649, or Shirley Katz,
818-346-9779.
"I DO" DEPT . . . Val Liner
and Dr. Arthur Rosner, ear,
nose and throat doc at Henry
Ford Hospital, are back from
their honeymoon.
THEY MET AT a mother's
club in Atlanta, Ga. . . . when
Michelle Levitt mentioned that
she was from this area . . . and
our daughter-in-law, Bonnie
Raskin, told of coming to visit
us . . . with son Scott and
grandson Matthew . . . Both
had babies born around the
same time . . . and have become
great friends . . . Michelle is the
daughter of Alan "The Singing
Window Washer" Schwartz.
BERNADINE ZITKA
STEIN, teacher at Holbrook
Elementary School, has a
reason to be thrilled . . . She
took 12 fifth graders for lunch
at Under The Eagle Restaurant
in Hamtramck . . . where a
special menu had been
prepared by the restaurant staff
. . . Bill of fare was entitled
"Table Etiquette Mini Course"
for the dozen- dressed-up
students . . . They had com-
pleted a four-session course
that included how to set a table
. . . and were being tested.
One youngster said she learn-
ed not to put her elbows on the
table and when there is just a
little soup in your bowl, to tilt
it toward you . . . Another told
of learning how to eat spaghet-
ti with a fork and spoon .. .
while one of the students said
he now knows what fork to use
first when there are two on the
left side of the plate . . .
Although she is yet too young
to imbibe, one of the lassies
remarked that she now knows
how to recognize which glass is
for water and which for wine.
During each course of the
meal, Bernadine introduced the
dishes . . . She hopes the
Holbrook School continues of-
fering etiquette courses to
students because Bernadine
feels that table manners are an
important part of a successful
life.
"It's going to make the
students feel good about
themselves when they know
they can eat anywhere in corn-
pany and be comfortable," says
Bernadine.
Thanks go to Mark Stein of
Mark of Excellence Catering
for silverware, dishes, etc. dur-
ing the course . . . to Dimitri's
of Southfield for napkins and
tablecloths . . . to Clock
Restaurant of Hamtramck and
Under The Eagle for food .. .
the latter also for use of their
dining spot . . . Bernadine says
that the course's success was
due in no small measure to
their help.
A LOT OF grown-up folks I
know could sure use a course
like this!
THE NEWLY RICH MAN
WAS bragging . . . He said he
owned a Monet, a Picasso and
an Utrillo . . . His friend said,
"That's boasting. Why would
anyone want three foreign
cars?"
