Israel Bonds Dinner
To Honor Schnipper

A multi-celebration at
Cong. Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses will occur 6:30 p.m.
June 17.
An Israel Bond dinner will
celebrate Rabbi A. Irving
Schnipper's 25th year as the
congregation's spiritual
leader, his 60th birthday year
and the congregation's 25th
dinner event on behalf of Is-
rael's major arm for economic
development through loan
funds.
Rabbi Schnipper will be the
recipient of the State of Is-
rael's newly issued "Shema
Yisrael Medal," in apprecia-
tion of his lifetime of dedica-
tion to his congregation, the
community and Israel.
The Bond Organization will
also present its "Silver An-
niversary Award" to the con-
gregation. Accepting the
award on behalf of Beth Ab-
raham Hillel Moses will be
Judge Nathan J. Kaufman
who, in 1962, was the hon-
oree of the first Israel Bond
dinner sponsored by the
synagogue.
Chairing the event will be
Dr. Harris Mainster who,
with his wife Dr. Phoebe
Mainster, will host a private
reception in their Bloomfield
Hills home in advance of the
dinner. Dinner toastmaster
will be Robert H. Naftaly.
Rabbi Schnipper earned his
B.A. and M.S. degrees at
Yeshivah University. He
serves as president of the
Conservative Rabbis of Met-
ropolitan Detroit and also of
Mazon (Jewish Response to
Hunger). He is chairman of
the Michigan Region of the
Rabbinical Assembly, a

member of the boards of di-
rectors of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund and the Akiva
and Hillel Day Schools, and
is also a member of the
schools' executive committee.
Rabbi Schnipper was foun-
der and chairman of the De-
troit Friends of the Associa-
tion for the Welfare of
Soldiers in Israel and he is
past chairman of the
synagogue and school section
of the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign.
Before joining Cong. Beth
Moses in 1962, Rabbi Schnip-
per held pulpits in Ruther-
ford, N.J.; Patague, Long Is-
land and Pittsburgh, Penn.;
and helped organize the He-
brew Academy of Suffolk
County in New York State.

Cancer Research Topic
Of Technion Speaker

"Aspects of Cancer Research"
will be the topic of the Technion
Society, Detroit Chapter guest
speaker, Prof. Shmuel
Eidelman at its public meeting
to be held at the United
Hebrew Schools on Wednesday
May 27 at 7:45 p.m.
The program will be chaired
by Louis Milgrom, past presi-
dent of the Technion Society's
Detroit Chapter.
Prof. Eidelman is associate
professor and senior researcher
at the Technion Faculty of
Medicine and a department
head at the associated Rambam
Medical Center in Haifa, Israel.
He will talk about research tak-
ing place at the Technion on
certain types of cancer.
He also will discuss the
research being done at the
Technion in the new field of

monoclonal antibodies which is
expected to have a major impact
on medicine for diagnosis and
treatment of cancer and a varie-
ty of diseases.
The public is invited. There is
no charge.

Yiddish Vinkl
Meets Sunday

A Yiddish Vinkl, sponsored
by the Workmen's Circle, will
be held, 2 p.m. Sunday at the
Workmen's Circle Center,
26341 Coolidge, Oak Park.
The Vinkl gives persons who
speak Yiddish an opportunity
to hear and speak Mamalos-
chen. The public is invited at
no charge.
