Dancer Spotlighted
In HMC Celebration

Ze'eva Cohen, internation-
ally renowned solo dancer
and choreographer, will be a
special guest artist at the
"Celebration of Survival" to
be presented by the
Holocaust Memorial Center
on June 8 at 8 p.m. at the
Lila R. Jones-Johnson Au-
ditorium of Oakland Com-
munity College, Royal Oak
campus.
Born in Israel, Cohen
studied dance there, begin-
ning her professional career
at 16, and has studied at the
Juilliard School of Music
aided by a joint scholarship
from the American-Israel
Cultural Foundation and
Juilliard.
The Ze'eva Cohen Solo
Dance Repertory, initiated in
1971, has been seen through-
out the U.S., Canada and Is-
rael. She has prepared works
in the repertories of Munich's
Tanzprojket, Israel's
Bathsheva and Kibbutz
Dance Companies, the Israeli
Chamber Dance Theater, In-
dianapolis' Dance Kaleido-
scope, Contemporary Dance
Theater of Cincinnati, the
North Carolina Dance Thea-
ter and the Alvin Ailey Re-
pertory Ensemble.
Cohen will perform the
Mothers of Israel, choreog-
raphed by Margalit Oved.
This work is a distillation of
Old Testament tales of Sarah,
Rebekah, Leah and Rachel.
Tickets for the "Celebration
of Survival," which features
the Carolyn Dorfman Dance
Company and guest artists

Slomovits), are available by
