as the Antoine's in New Or-
leans ... Allen Park opera-
tion is ANTONEENE'S.
But that little trivia is just
an opener for some words
about the popular Italian re-
staurant opened Aug. 18 of
last year by Santuci and
Carol De Guili.
It's intimate and cozy ...
with stained glass, pictures,
stucco walls, flecked tablec-
loths with plexiglass tops, red
padded booths and seating for
115 to dine and another 26 at
a bar area.
Santuci and Carol took a
former Mexican eatery,
cleaned it up, closed for three
months to remodel ... and
opened as an Italian restaur-
ant with people waiting.
Even his 81-year-old
mother, Antoinette De Guili,
comes in three days a week
to make sauces, some of the
pastas ... and old-world dis-
hes that can't be gotten at too
many other places.
Nothing at Cafe Antoine's
is processed ... all sauces
homemade ... veal dishes to
order ... and pastas are
made right there ... both
machine and cut by hand.
It is also one of the very
few restaurants that cuts its
own veal ... using milk-fed
Provimi (top of the line) at
reasonable prices.
Pleasant waitpersons wear
red bowties ... as they serve
eight veal dishes, seafood,
steaks and 15 pasta favorites.
Slogan at Cafe Antoine's is
"Mangiomo" ... Let's Eat!

COOKBOOK ... Taming
of The Stew ($11.95) is being

sold by Helene Tachna .
It's by the Association for
Brain Tumor Research in
Chicago ... an organization
little-known but doing won-
derful work in making people
aware that brain tumors can
and do strike children and
adults of all ages . . . The
cookbook is one of their
means for very-much-needed
funds in the research to help
fight against this dreadful
disease ... Call Helene at
356-0247.

THE STAGE IS SET ...

the players are in place and
the show is about to begin ...
What's the occasion? ... No,
it isn't a Broadway musical
... just Sinai Hospital
Guild's annual meeting.
This is not your run-of-
the-mill meeting with guest
speakers and questions and
answers ... This year, mem-
bers of the Sinai Guild and
the hospital's administrative
staff are performing a hilari-
ous, original musical called
"Side By Side By Sinai."
Where else will you be
able to see Sinai's Executive
Vice President Irving Shapiro
perform a solo?
Many talented Guild mem-
bers are also key players in
this entertaining spoof.
The stage is set for this
Thursday at Shaarey Zedek
... with public invited to
enjoy the day beginning at 11
a.m.
Being installed is this
year's new Guild president,
Bobbie Blitz ... Other new
officers include ... Eileen
Bleyer, corresponding secre-
tary; Barbra Chaitin, finan-
cial secretary; Madelon
Seligman, vice president,
membership; and Hope Sil-
verman, vice preident, volun-
teers.
ANDY WILLIAMS show
scheduled for tonight and to-
morrow at Premier Center on
Van Dyke has been post-
poned until fall.

IF YOU THINK TURN-
ING the tables and having a

party for all its clients of the
last 32 years is easy, take a
few head scratches from
caterers Harold and Wyn
Landis ... It's a terrific idea,
but big question is ... how do
you get them together when
so many are strewn all over
the country? ... There's still
plenty here ... and some
surprises from other parts of
the land ... It's June 7, from
3 to 5 at least ... but you
know how reunions are ...
Give Harold or Wyn a buzz
and find out where they're
having the switcheroo shin-
dig ... 557-6157.
