grandchildren. Services 12
noon today at Hebrew Memo-
rial Chapel.

MAX REISMAN, 78, died
April 5. He leaves his wife,
Ethel; three daughters, Mrs.
Jack (Rosalind) Morros, Mrs.
Arthur (Sandra) Shmarak of
Davis, Calif., and Mrs. Jef-
frey (Eileen) Wachler; two
sons, Jerrold Blitz and Barry
Grant; three brothers, George
of Florida, Louis of Florida
and Barney of Chicago, Ill.;
14 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.

GUSSIE SAK, 91, of South-
field, died April 6. Survived
by two sons, Louis and
Samuel; eight grandchildren

75, former Detroiter of Sun-
rise, Fla., died April 7. Sur-
vived by a son, Dr. Howard of
West Bloomfield; a brother,
Samuel Wolock of Birming-
ham; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy
Eichenhorn of Southfield; and
three grandchildren.

SHELLIE SHIFFMAN, 54,
former Detroiter of Woodland
Hills, Calif., died March 27.
Survived by two sisters, Mrs.
Walter (Bettyemae) Bennett
and Mrs. Sol (Evelyn) Gom-
berg of Panorama City,
Calif.; nieces, nephews,
grandnieces and grand-
nephews. Interment Los
Angeles, Calif.

DEL, 70, former Detroiter of

Las Vegas, Nev. died April 6.
She leaves her husband,
Jack; a son, David; a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Stanley (Marlene)
Somberg; a sister, Mrs. Jos-
peh (Bertha) Goldstein of El
Paso, Tex.; and four grand-
children. Interment Detroit.

SYBIL SIEGEL, 80, died

April 7. She leaves a son,
Lewis (Skip); five grand-
children and two great-
grandchildren.

ABE SLOAN, 90, former De-

troiter of Bay Harbour Fla.,
died April 5. He leaves his
wife, Mitzi; and a sister, Mrs.
Julius (Belle) Steinberg.

Michael (Lisbeth) Fried; a
sister, Mrs. Pearl Brown of
New York; and eight grand-
children.

MILTON WEINER, former

Detroiter of Rochester, N.Y.,
died March 9. He leaves his
wife, Shirley; three sons,
Daniel of Brookline, Mass.,
Gary of Durango, Colo., and
David; a daughter, Mrs. Lian
(Wendy) Ng of Tucson, Ariz.;
and a brother, Sheldon, of
Reston, Va. Interment
Rochester, N.Y.

Buddy Rich

Los Angeles — Buddy Rich,
a self-taught drummer who
played with Artie Shaw and
Tommy Dorsey before start-
ing his own band, died April
2 at age 69.
Born Bernard Rich, Mr.
Rich got his show business
start in his parents' vau-
deville act, Wilson and Rich,
at age 18 months. At 11 he
began playing in a band and
at 21 he played with dance
bands led by Joe Marsala,
Bunny Berigan, Shaw and
Dorsey.
He was a drummer in
Benny Carter's band in 1942
when he joined the U.S.
Marines. After leaving the
Marines at the close of World
War II, Mr. Rich formed his
own band, with financial
backing from Frank Sinatra.

Ethel Resh

Ethel Resh, a nightclub
co-owner with her husband,
Benny, died April 2 at age
87.
Born in Rhode Island, Mrs.
Resh lived more than 50
years in Detroit. She and her
husband managed the former
Bowery Bar and Restaurant
in Hamtramck in the late
1930s. After World War II,
they bought the Club 509 in
Detroit, which they owned
until 1959.
She leaves a daughter,
Mrs. Morton (Helene) Miller;
a sister, Mrs. Flossie Gertz of
Providence, R.I.; seven
grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.

Jack Freeman

Jack Freeman, a retired
wholesale meat packer, died
March 30 at age 84.
Born in Russia, Mr.
Freeman lived many years in
Huntington Woods, prior to
moving to Bradenton, Fla., 12
years ago. In Michigan, he
was a member of Temple
Beth El, Perfection Lodge of
