Jackiers Will Chair
JNF Annual Tribute
Edyth and Joseph Jackier
have been named general co-
chairmen for the Jewish Na-
tional Fund's testimonial
dinner honoring Tillie
Brandwine slated for June
24, at Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Both Jackiers were honored
by the JNF at a testimonial
dinner in June 1979. They
were the first couple to be
awarded the Fred Butzel
Memorial Award of the
Jewish Welfare Federation.
Mrs. Jackier was president
of the Jewish Welfare Feder-
ation Women's Division and
of the Jewish Family Service.
Mrs. Jackier is the past
president of the Sherwood
and University Groups of
Hadassah and past president
of Hadassah House, chairman
of the United Community
Services Child Care Commit-
tee and a national board
member of the women's di-
vision of the Council of
Jewish Federations. She cur-
rently is vice president of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
Board of Governors and has
served on its executive com-
mittee.
She is a former board
member of the National
Council of Jewish Women
and Cong. Shaarey Zedek
Sisterhood. She served on the
task force on community-
based services to non-
institutionalized elderly, was
associate chairman of the
Federation Community Serv-
ices Division and member of
the Conference of Division
Chairmen. Mr. Jackier is a
member of the JNF board of
directors and is president of
the United Jewish Charities,
a member of the executive
committee of the Federation,
and has been active in the
Allied Jewish Campaign.
Jackier was the first
president of the Jewish E'ed-
eration Apartments, is on the
boards of the Jewish Com-
munity Center, Sinai Hospi-
tal, Detroit Chapter of the
American Society for Techn-
ion and Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Jackier also is a member of
B'nai B'rith Youth Services
Board and a fellow of the
Anti-Defamation League of
B'nai B'rith. He has been a
fundraiser for the American
Cancer Society.

YAD To Hear
Talk On Apartheid
The Jewish Welfare Feder-
ation's Young Adult Division
will hold its fourth "Sunday
Brunch with YAD" program,
10:30 a.m. March 22, at the
United Hebrew Schools in
Southfield.
Moira Katz will discuss
"Apartheid: Its Effect on
South African Jewry," in the
Friedman Conference Room
of the school's Sigmund and
Sophie Rohlik Building.
Educated in South Africa,
Katz is currently on the fa-
culty of Wayne State Univer-
sity, where she teaches public
speaking in the speech com-
munication department.
Tamara R. Gorosh, Robert
Starkman and Dr. Debby
Feinberg are YAD political
awareness committee chair-
men. The Midrasha College
of Jewish Studies is a co-
sponsor of the event.
