The Holocaust survivor,
Sam Offen, wrote the following
letter to Zion-Grace's pastor,
Rev. Philip Meili:
"It was with mounting hor-
ror I watched news coverage of
the burning of your church by
the hand of an arsonist. I am
one of the very few survivors of
the Holocaust. The Nazis tor-
tured and murdered millions of
L Jews and Christians. In my
youth in Poland, the same
things happened when they
torched Jewish temples and
synagogues, often with wor-
shippers trapped inside.
"In 1983 my own synagogue,
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses,
accidently burned to the
ground. With the help of our
Christian neighbors we were
able to rise from the ashes and
rebuild. It is my fervent hope
that you will do likewise. In
this spirit, please accept my
contribution of $100 towards
the reconstruction of your
place of worship.
"We Jews are presently
celebrating the festival of
Chanukah. May its meaning,
that is the right to religious
freedom and victory over op-
pression, inspire your noble
cause."

Hebrew Free Loan Associa-
tion and Jewish Vocational
Service (JVS) announce the
availability of a new source of
funding for post-high school
training or vocational educa-
tion for students attending
accredited schools or training
institutions.
Through a grant of $50,000
from United Jewish Charities,
which was matched by an
equal sum by Hebrew Free
Loan, students of all ages in
• need of interest-free, short
• term loans for as much as
$2,000 may apply for assis-
tance from Project TOV.
This program is available to
students who need a short-
) term loan to meet tuition pay-
ment deadlines; part-time stu-
dents; individuals seeking to
upgrade their education; those
wishing to return to school; or
those interested in pursuing
study in Israel or other foreign
\ countries.
/=. TOV loans are short term;
repayment begins im-
mediately. Also, TOV loans
will only be given to students
who are attending schools or
training centers that are
accredited.
JVS staff will screen,
evaluate and make recom-
,, mendations regarding the ap-
phcation and educational plan.
\ Hebrew Free Loan will make
2 final decisions and arrange re-
