JACOB WINOGORA, 80, of
Oak Park, died Dec. 10. Sur-
vived by his wife, Florence; a
son, Leonard of New York;
and one grandson.

Charles Salicoff

Charles J. Salicoff, an ac-
countant and systems analyst
for General Motors for the
past 47 years, died Dec. 12 at
age 88.
Born in London, England,
Mr. Salicoff worked for the
election board. He founded
the General Motors Retirees
Luncheon Club upon his re-
tirement 23 years ago. A
computer expert, Mr. Salicof
helped program the computer
system for Sinai Hospital, for
which he volunteered. He did
the same for Henry Ford
Hospital, St. John Hospital
He leaves his wife, Sylvia;
a son Edwin Sallen; a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Murray (Arline Sal-
len) Sobolov; two brothers,
Nathan Salicoff and Meyer
Salle of Florida; two sisters,
Mrs. Sylvia Perchikoff and
Mrs. Morris (Bernice) Dicks-
tein; four grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren. .

Charles Shere

Charles N. Shere, an attor-
ney specializing in trial and
business law, died Dec. 13 at
age 75.
Born in Chicago,. Ill., Mr.
Shere was a practicing attor-
ney for more than 55 years.
He was graduated from Cass
Tech, Detroit College of Law
(1931) at age 20 and had to
wait until age 21 to practice
in the courtroom.
He was twice president of
Cong. B'nai David and in-
strumental in moving the
congregation from Detroit to
Southfield. He also was past
president of his law frater-
nity. Mr. Shere was honored
for 50 years in the legal pro-
fession. He chaired the mat-
zah fund at B'nai David to
ensure Passover for people all
over the world.
He leaves his wife,
Eleanor; a son, Joel; a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Coleman (Nanci)
Klein; and four grandsons.

Jean Silverman

Jean Silverman, a member
of singing groups at McDon-
nell Towers, died Dec. 13 at
age 72.
Born in Boston, Mass., Mrs.
Silverman was a member of
Cong. Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses and its sisterhood and
Order of the Eastern Star.
She leaves a son, Allan of
Badger, Calif.: three daugh-

ters, Mrs. Daniel (Lorraine)
Feber, Mrs. Gary (Jacqueline)
Sikora and Harriett; three
sisters, Mrs. Morris (Sarah)
Levine, Mrs. Sam (Rose) Gol-
denberg of Los Angeles,
Calif., and Mrs. Joseph
(Doris) Aaron; and four
grandchildren.

Ida Mae Efrusy, secretary
for Albert Kahn Architects,
died Dec. 10 at age 81.
Born in Russia, Miss Ef-
rusy was a member of Hadas-
sah and B'nai B'rith Women.
She leaves a sister, Mrs.
Archie (Molly) Katcher;
nieces, nephews, great-nieces
and great-nephews.

Salt Water
Cotton Grown

Beersheva. — A project to
grow cotton on brackish
water, which will have far-
reaching, beneficial conse-
quences for Third World
countries, is being carried out
jointly by Israeli and Egyp-
tian scientists. Their work,
supported by a $1 1/4 million-
a-year grant from the U.S.
Agency for International De-
velopment, was initiated by
the Fred J. Hansen Institute
for World Peace in San Di-
ego, Calif.
The researchers are de-
veloping salt tolerant cotton.

organizations, died Dec. 9 at
age 77.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio,
Mrs. Blaine was a member of
Maimonides Medical Society
Women's Auxiliary, Hadas-
sah and National Council of
Jewish Women.
She leaves two sons, Ale-
xander and Lawrence of
California; a daughter, Mrs.
Victor (Beverly) Gordon; and
four grandchildren.

Myron Schefman, a builder
and land developer with Na-
tional Housing Corp., died
Dec. 15 at age 70.
Born in Ft. Wayne, Ind.,
Mr. Schefman was chief
operating officer of National
Housing Corp. He was co-
owner of Bankle and Schef-
man Building Companies. He
developed many subdivisions
locally.
He was a 32nd degree Ma-
son, a member of the Na-
tional Builders Association
and a past board member of
Temple Israel.
He leaves his wife, Theda;
three sons, Leslie, Robert and
ie (itegina) Scthmier and
Mrs. Irving (Ruthe) Levine;
and six grandchildren.
