LISTENING POST

DANNY RASKIN

FEW WEEKS AGO, fellow
with name of Allan Schwartz
was on local television ...
telling of his participation as
a clown at various affairs ...
Another Allan also received
calls to perform at parties ...
He'd like to accommodate but
his profession is quite a bit
different ... being a medical
doctor So far, Allan said
at Thanksgiving dinner given
by Dr. Marshall and Dee
Shapiro, he hasn't been called
to wash windows.
Marshall and Dee don't be-
lieve in 13 as bad luck ...
and had that many for dinner
... It sure wasn't ... every-
thing turned out perfect.
Daughter Stacie Shapiro
had role of Rosie, a leading
part, in The Whole Darn
Shooting Match three-act
comedy yesterday and day be-
fore put on by Harrison High
... but didn't have to say a
word about it at dinner ...
Everybody knew they were
sitting with a star.
Ever hear of left-handed
spoons? ... Marshall and Dee
bought them in Europe.
CONGRATS ... to Marc
Fields ... on his eightieth
birthday.
SAM RODD, owner of
Tres Chic Petites in Sugar
Tree, Orchard Lake Rd. north
of Maple, can't figure out
why petite styling hasn't
been publicized ... In fact,
says Sam, a lot of people
don't even realize there are
such places for gals.
His creative designs for
lassies 5'4" and under . . .
sizes 0 to 14 ... are the least
noted of all, says Sam ...
Gals can buy styles direct
from his racks without much
alteration ... and whatever
necessary is done at no cost.
Tres Chic Petites stylings
exhibited at recent Bloom-
field Charley's Wednesday
noon fashion show were
breathtakingly beautiful.
Strange that places like
Sam Rodd's Tres Chic Petites
... which caters to these
sizes ... are not given much
promotion or publicity ... So
many lassies don't even know
there is such a thing as petite
sizes ... An educational pro-
gram is in order I would
think.
"CHOCOLATE
JUBILEE" by Alzheimers
Disease and Related Disor-
ders Association ... is this
Sunday ... 2 to 5 p.m. ... at
Somerset Inn ... Donation by
calling ADRA is $25 ... $30
at the door and $7.50 for stu-
dents.
The Jubilee will be a
chocoholic's dream affair ...
while helping out in this fine
cause ... 27 well-known
chocolatiers and bakers will
be featured ... giving folks
samples of their best recipes
(candies, tortes, etc.)
Committee members in-
clude ... Pola Friedman,
chairgal; Bluma Siegal, Mar-
lene Borman, John Bloom,
Doreen Hermelin, Renee
Mahler and Beryl Winkel-

man.
E
FIRST COUSINS at Sun-
dance Shoes on the
Boardwalk, Orchard Lake Rd.
south of Maple ... owner Rob
Wolk and his manager Donna
Abels ... will both celebrate
their birthdays on Dec. 21.
Sundance has never had a
grand opening party ...
which Rob will hold after his
walls are soon painted peach
... The high-style, low-
budget shoe spot for lassies
opened last April ... and has
an on-premises inventory of )
4,000 to 5,000 shoes and
boots.
FIRST FUNDRAISER by
Harmony Chapter, ORT, at
Gaynors on Orchard Lake
Road, was a very successful
one ... In just two hours, 6
p.m. to 8 p.m., Harmony gals
raised $496.
ROSE
SHERER
SOCIALITES and Berkley
Lions Club hold hands Dec.
13, 8 p.m ... in sponsoring
their annual dance at the
Veterans Social Hall on 12
Mile ... with music of Frank
Venice ... Charge is just $4
per person including re-
freshments.
Rose Sherer Socialites,
which recently celebrated its
32nd anniversary, is a singles
group ... but the dance is
open to both singles and mar-
ried guys 'n gals ... For more
info, call president Dorothy
Goldberg, 548-6850.
BIG DOOR PRIZE at
Temple Beth El Auction, Dec.
13, among others, will be a
45" rear projection television
... If I win, I'll probably be
run out of town on a rail ...
Hardly seems probable, but
neither did winning TV's last
two years in a row ... Both
times I bought my tickets
from former Brotherhood
President, Ray Abrams .. .
and who do you suppose I'll
buy them from this year? ...
He'd better run too, if I win!
... Silent auction is 7:15 and
live auction 8:30 ... For
more info call auction chair-
person Ruth Talmer, 338-
4841.
$10 per person includes
hors d'oeuvres and sweet
table by Sylvia Lee ... plus
some unbelievable gifts to be
auctioned off ... including a
pedigree
puppy,
furs,
Colorado condo, video games,
jewelry, antiques, shopping
sprees, art work, airline tic-
.kets, weekend getaways, etc.
WEEKEND GOODIE to-
morrow 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. ...
Las Vegas Night by all four
chapters of City of Hope ...
at Cong. B'nai David on
Southfield ... $5 donation in-
cludes $2 in chips and cash
prizes.

Choir To Sing

day, at the Music Hall, 350
