The B'nai David Institute
for Adult Education will
begin its fall semester with a
lecture series entitled, "Who
Is A Jew?: Problems and
Controversy," at 8:15 p.m.
Tuesday at the synagogue.
A series of lectures will be
given by Rabbi Morton F.
Yolkut, spiritual leader of the
congregation. A discussion
period and social hour will
follow each lecture.
The initial lecture will
cover the topic "Conversion
and Partilineal Descent: Con-
troversy Over Jewish Iden-
tity."
Subsequent lectures are as
follows: Nov. 11, "Marriage
and Divorce: Problems of
Jewish Marital Legitimacy";
and Nov. 18, "Our House Di-
vided: Will There Be One
Jewish People By The Year
2,000."
The series is free, and all

Registration is under way
for the youth basketball pro-
gram sponsored by the Oak
Park department of recrea-
tion. Leagues are offered for
boys, grades four and five, six
through eight and nine
through 12. Leagues are of-
fered for girls, ages 12 and
under, 14 and under, and 18
and under.
Deadline for registration is
Nov. 24 for all divisions ex-
cept boys senior division; Jan.
2, for boys senior division.
